    The Good: Salihi finally scored
The Bad: The team had no answer for the postage stamp size and therefore lack of space on the pitch. The fouls not issued for the cheap shots from San Jose.
The Ugly: DC United's defensive shape and effort. The first Big Bird goal was totally preventable and instead, San Jose gets the momentum and then it was a one way street towards our goal.

I'm not that upset about the result. first choice CBs out against SJ was always going to be a tall order. At least three of SJ's goals came on second chance putbacks which is a credit to SJ's hussle, but was also a bit freakish. Willis had the Cruz OG covered and I'm not sure I've ever seen a goal like Lenhart's off the crossbar that wasn't offside. I'm not saying he was, but the planets were definitely in alignment for the Quakes tonight.

The match was slightly less of an abomination as this new site.

SJ doesn't use a small pitch anymore. Despite the fact that Dave Johnson and John Harkes repeated that during the match, SJ no longer uses a narrow pitch.

Yes, it was always going to be a tall order. So why did we mortgage our chances for a good result this weekend on this match? I'm not upset about the result -- I'm upset about the fact that so many players that went 90 minutes last Saturday went 90 minutes tonight. Think we'll get 90 good minutes from DeRo or Pontius on Saturday? No way.

I was trying to ignore the San Jose feed. They were saying that San Jose used a small pitch. Of course, they also refused to acknowledge any of the hacking so they might be somewhat biased.

I don't know. I agree that Toronto has been snakebit but we've seen United lose a series of close games in unlucky fashion in the past only to have a freakish losing streak bring on a death spiral. I can't say how well Toronto is going to play.

Toronto also has three games in a week like DC does, but with two of them on the road. Benny may be guessing that Toronto will be as fatigued as DC is but DC has the talent and depth to overcome it (at least in the attack).

From what I saw in Toronto's last two matches, they looked better than they deserved from thsoe two matches; they won't go gentle into that good night.

    That's a fair point.

tough loss last night, but only 1 centerback against a very in form offense isn't gonna win you points too often

New interface totally does not work with my Kindle Fire. Still looks like crap on my G2 smartypantsphone. Doesn't work any better than the last interface. Oh well, nothing I can do but anger quit.

I'm not overjoyed with the changes. I don't use facebook at home because of the way it automatically updates alerts and stuff ~ it's a drag on dial-up. And when I hit refresh, it takes longer for me than it did before the upgrade.

But I understand I'm a nobody that lives in nowhereland and technology only has time to be concerned with the affluent and well-connected.

Best of luck with the toothectomy, Natty.

My niece is on Percocet after slamming her finger in the front door Saturday. A half-pill makes her loopy and a quarter-pill doesn't dull the throb, so she's been "working from home" during the school day.

    Good morning, everyone else.

Oh, and great thread title, too. Though I was half expecting a "carolinam 404-Information Not Found" kind of title... ;)

Also missed yesterday, a little lesson from Simon Borg: particularly if no soccer fans seem to value your work anyway, don't say something idiotic on an MLS podcast.
