And in equally good news, young Perry Kitchen's MRI came up negative

    :)

Considering how nasty it looked in slo-mo, I feared it meant the worst for his career, not just the immediate future!

So when's the last day then? :D

But to me, these responses are like "Why listen to more than one band? The band I listen to now has made plenty of music!" It's soccer. I like soccer.

The guy who owns the Hamilton (and Old Ebbitt, and Clyde's) was in my fingerstyle guitar workshop at Fur Peace in April. He was going to put Mary and I on the guest list for a show a week or two later; but we already had tix to another show (FoW at the 9:30) that night. So I have a standing offer for guest list to some show; but I keep forgetting to look at their calendar to decide what to go to.

He schedules a fair amount of old-school-ish R&B and funk, as well as jazz.

George Porter is teaching a bass class at Fur Peace this summer. It makes me want to learn bass just so I could take the class. He is a god.

    To funkify everyone's day:

June 29. Just in time to celebrate Ms. LB's 60th birthday in NYC over the 4th and to have plenty of time for trips to Boston for Liverpool/Roma and Balmer and DC for the two city Liverpool/DCU doubleheader. Maybe Montreal in August. Gonna be fun.

liking music or soccer is one thing. Hating someone because they played for a team thousands of miles away in a past decade and you like a different team thousands of miles away that someone decided you have to hate because of it, likely because of something that might have happened decades ago :)

I can like a new cover song without having to care that a dude who wrote it was despised by the original artist Booker T and the MG's in 1962 because he ran off with the lead guitarist's woman or something and feeling now I have to hate the new band :)

Well, but caring about any of this at all is kinda stupid, you know? I mean, I developed a real distaste for C.J. Brown; but how much was my life really affected by anything he did? Sports fandom is, in its very nature, all about an irrational emotional response to completely meaningless stuff. But it's fun to care, so we do.

I just realized that I might actually be in the vicinity of Montreal for that match, but I have to check my reservation. We're going back to the Laurentians this summer.
