Stop. The exposure and perks international play gives you is crazy.....pobrecito, A player who can't get off the arsenal bench and is now playing on a team who was fighting for salvation is getting called up for the biggest even of the summer......exploitation at its best.

Being a pillar on an a national team even gets players better contracts.

He did turn down the qualifiers. He said not to call him up at all for any squads.

    Fixed.

I'm sure we'll handle Guayana fine without him.

“Él nos comentó que ya manifestó al Arsenal que no quiere estar en el Arsenal, va a ir a otro club. Entonces él personalmente dice 'tengo que hacer una buena Pretemporada, quiero conocer al técnico, no quiero llegar a mi club ya cuando empezó el torneo y no me conocen porque tengo que empezar a picar piedra desde el principio'".

Madre patria? jajaja is a futbol tourney, not a war against el puto Maseosare "el extraño enemigo"
    jajaja

I still want to find out who in the hell that Maseosare guy is. Me imagino que es como un pinche ninja.

Personally I think his excuse is bullshit, but can't really blame him after the De La Torre pretty much ignored him for so long. Pay back kind of thing. He is risking not getting called again.

Yeah according to Gonzalez Iñarritu, I tend to not believe everything the people from the FMF say, because I know this will come as a surprise to everyone here but they tend to lie a lot. Maybe Vela will come out and speak the truth this time.

Didn't he say in one of his latest interviews that he dreamed or wanted to play in the olympics?? if so I see this like a bait and switch, make the FMF think he wanted a call-up and then give them the finger, also why does everyone bring up the FMF playing him injured like he was forced to play injured? I mean dont they usually ask the player if hes 100 pct?and some players actually lie just to play,so is that a fact or are you guys just making it up? I said it before I'll say it again I could give 2 shits if he never wears la verde again you dont ever turn down La Seleccion much less multiple times (unless a real emergency is the cause)

Well that makes sense, he is tired of being thrown around like nothing. Maybe he really wants to settle down with a future team first before he goes off with the MNT. I can respect that, as much as he has been loaned out with his career in arsenal, one could expect that.

in 2009 when he came back from the gold cup, he was injured and lost out. after 2010 kinda the same thing. but fack him. he wont be able to play for the olympics ever again, and at this level that he is at.

I guess he doesnt think the olympics are worth the sacrifice.

    so again

    fack him.

I saw the press conference, and Vela was saying all the right things with his mouth, but his body language was saying something entirely different. His eyes were shifting, he never was at ease, it was obvious he was not comfortable answering the question. It does not bother me that Vela wants to opt out of the Olympics. If he does go to a new team, he is dead right about making a good first impression. With the JO taking place in late July, he would miss out onsome important face time. I do take umbrage, however, with his unwillingness to be called for the upcoming qualifiers. He can take a few weeks to play for Mexico in games that are much more important.

The good thing is that the lines of communication have been re-opened. The bad news is that he is now engaged in a stupid pissing match.

I just have to say that Vela is pretty damn selfish. I mean look at it this way: Vela could accept the call up for the qualifiers and say that the olympics should be for the kids. He could neg the call up for both and tell us (the fans) why.
At this point he hasn't done either. What a waste of time then for all of us Mexican fans who have supported Vela, even when he was on the bench at Arsenal for all those years ( when we were still saying he would be great). I think that he has a right to his happiness and his career but to completely alienate his compatriot fans (at times the only ones supporting him at arsenal) is completely stupid and selfish by him.

Agreed. I get that vibe from Vela too, that his perception of his situation in general isn't mature enough to consider certain things such as this. I am all for him wanting to spend as much time with a new club as possible (and he will no doubt go to a new club, as Arsenal will let him leave and Real Sociedad cannot buy him), and if he has to miss the Olympics because of this by all means. But to engage in and perpetuate this type of petty back and forth with the FMF is pointless. Both parties are at fault, to be sure, but again Vela does not have to perpetuate it in order to do what he wants. I think this is the case with many young players, who are put in tough positions they only have a narrow understanding of, and as a result the situations often lead to unfavorable consequences; we can see this with Gio at Barcelona being exploited by his agent. In any case, hopefully this will all blow over after the summer and once the important qualifiers begin, all will be well with El Tri.

I see it as, he is not confident that whatever team gets him, that he will be able to crack the first team unless he does the preseason.

i understand not going to the Olympics because of his club situation, but why not the Senior NT games? especially the ones taking place next month. it's not like it will interfere with pre-season with whatever he club he ends up in. Vela is just being a bitch.

A decent club is probably whispering in his ear. Doesn't want another Arsenal situation, he's already lost 4-5 years. When Vela was riding the bench, the NT didn't give a shit, they let him rot. I'm sure that the NT/major international tournaments is on his mind but what good would that do if history repeats itself. Chepo would probably do it again. At least he's showing ambition, no doubt that if this works out, he'll be beasting.

    vela @ 3:50

I am not worried about his current situation. He will be in the 2014 world cup. And at the end of the day that's all that matters.

Yup, imagine Vela doing what he did with RS at a better club for the next two years. He'll be world class. That's what he wants.

While I don't completely disagree with his decision, the way it was delivered was piss poor. He could have made remarks that leave the FMF or Chepo something better to say than "aqui no queremos a nadie a fuerza"

He could have been more candid towards el tri without kissing anyone's ass but making it clear why he was opting out.

Somebody mentioned earlier in the thread. Remember all those transatlantic trips Vela would make to play in NT games. And this would cause Wenger to rule him out of any possible appearance. And also, the many preseasons he missed because of NT duties. Whether he was injured or would join camp late.

If it were me I too would focus on my career since at the end of the day the club is the one that pays his wages and he is not a Messi where he can really make unreasonable demands of any club that hopes to sign him.

Pars, I still haven't seen a direct quote from Vela.

Chepo's comments are also piss-poor, more so, since he insinuates Vela doesn't want to be on the National Team.
