Yup. In some ways I think he is better than Valencia. At least the Valencia we saw against Tunisia. I have been impressed by Angulo too. I dare say he is in better form than Armero (which should not surprise many.)
I am pissed/shocked neither Murillo or Angulo have been given a call up yet. They have been awesome this year for their team. I really like Murillo kid is super classy defender. Much better than Balanta from what I seen of him in River. The armero situation is troubling. Was voted the best LB in Italy while at Udinese. Goes to Napoli neither coach plays him and now doesn't play in West Ham. Sanchez was much better when he played in France. We really need to see who are best CM pair and CB pair are. They are our weakest links on our NT and the most important part of team play
Valencia is just coming back from a LONG battle with various injuries. It'll take time before we see him at his best. Under Pekerman, I've come away impressed with Valencia more often than I have been with Sanchez. Neither have been great for club or country as of late... Angulo is solid. Fits great in a defensive or a possession based team. The main difference between he and Armero-- hell, the difference between Armero and 90% of the LBs in world futbol is that Armero will give you 2 0r 3 counters that will leave he or a teammate one on one with the goalie per match. It's hard to leave that offensive potential on the bench, regardless of how much his form has dipped.
Yup. That is why I specified by saying the Valencia we saw against Tunisia. Maybe he will regain Uruguay in Barranquilla type of form but from what I have seen in March I say Sanchez is better at the moment. As for the LB conversation, Angulo knows how to cross the ball much better than Armero. That has to be taken into account as well in the offensive comparison. It is great to have all the speed in the world but if you do the same predictable low cross over and over again, it is not that effective.
Indeed. He was flying all over the field against Atl. Madrid. Great match for him in a losing cause. He was one of the reasons Elche kept it close until the end.
I rarely watch Elches matches but I have to agree with you guys that he was excellent yesterday. He is very good with the ball. He'll be in Brazil without a doubt.
The question has never been whether or not he will be in Brazil in my mind. The question is... ...should he start over Valencia? And from what I have seen lately I say he should.
The problem is that Valencia adapts better to Pekerman tactics than Sanchez... However players are not robots, and people can adapt, Sanchez has come a long way since that Argentina game where he was crapping his pants
If we can get back the Valencia from 2012 I would love to see him start. It is great to have so many options on the midfield line.
rr I agree 100%. On form Valencia is just beast. Was it coincedence that Colombia best form was when Valencia became starter? Was it coincedence that their form dropped off after his injury? Don't think
Him and Zuniga picking up injuries were crucial. But we have adjusted a bit and still found a way to finish 2nd in qualifying. Just need to find the right combo going into June. And as of right now I think Sanchez is part of that formula but there's still time for things to change.
http://toffeeweb.com/season/14-15/rumour-mill/27873.html Just google sanchez everton and choose "last day" to get the most recent stuff.
It's about time! Sanchez deserves a much better team to play. The man was one of our best players in the tournament (except his mistake in Silva's goal), played amazing and the EPL can be good test for him. He plays in Elche so I understand why he is so "cheap", but still, 2M seems way too cheap for a player like Carlos.
Sanchez would have easily been picked up if not for that last blooper. Doesn't take away his overall performance but tough to make a case to bid up high to get him. I figure Guarin is in the same boat and in fact would bet that Inter extended his contract based on what they thought would be his WC breakout.
Sanchez will learn from his mistake; it WILL movation him to improve. HOpefully, Guarin would have been affected as well where he would feel a bit upset for not changing the game.
agreed, although theres something about Guarin that makes me feel like he felt slighted by Pekerman. That kind of attitude where u say, he doesn't give a &^% about me than F him. I've NEVER seen Guarin so disconnected from the NT and you could sense that in the game.
