The upper echelon of the Premiership usually doesn't give a fack about the League Cup, but Bryan Robson made a good run in this Cup one of his priorities at the beginning of the season. So we can expect a full-strength Baggies side at Old Trafford.

Perhaps Sir Alex could do us a favour and field a first XI mostly of United youngsters. Of course, though whatever United side plays tonight will have a bit of extra motivation in the backdrop of the tributes to be paid to recently deceased United legend George Best.

Unfortunately, when this match kicks off, it will be midday here in California and I will be at work. Still, I am expecting a good performance (and possibly a result?)

Well, a tough display against United's kids (including our old friend Kieran Richardson). Not our best XI, either, but all first-team regulars.

United put an experienced back four in front of Tim Howard - I'm going to guess, having neither seen nor heard the match, that that made the difference.

Back to focusing on improving our lot in the league.
