Tuesday night on ESPN. Not available in the UK: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/espns-30-30-soccer-stories-694728 I'm not sure I'll watch as I've seen other documentaries on the disaster. The average American sports fan who does watch probably will come away with one more reason to hate soccer.
It's only a matter of time until it happens again in countries that still cage in their supporters. If your fans aren't able to attend a game without fences surrounding them, they shouldn't be allowed in the stadium.
I remember Parc des Princes had (I assume still has) a cage around its away section when I attended a game there in 2008. I'm not sure who else has them, but I'm sure they're not alone.
Stadium violence in Europe is unfathomable to me. The only place in the US that has any kind of consistent fan violence is Dodger Stadium. Even Red Sox/Yankees games had very little violence. Sure there's a few fights, but nobody gets stabbed or hit with rocks, even when beer flows like water at every US sporting event. I don't get it at all.
Twin Cities last night, after the Gophers lost the hockey championship. http://deadspin.com/minnesota-students-smash-cars-moon-cops-in-post-loss-r-1562693972
in fairness, there was justice then. A lot of people got imprisoned. The issue I have is that they do not acknowledge Heysel and pretend Hhillsborough is the only tragedy that happened in England.
They blame the police but not the fans crushing peopke outside the stadium with no tickets rioting. My collegue was there
This right here...I was assuming he was a Juve fan. Honestly, the ultras of Serie A can go f**k themselves. They are a cancer on the league as a whole.
words fail me. A majority of the people who died were not Ultras. http://edition.cnn.com/2012/10/31/s...el-hillsborough-juventus-liverpool/index.html Liverpool's hooligans went at anyone who wasnt Scouse.
I'm sorry but...as much as you have a hard time feeling sorry for Liverpool fans, I feel the same way towards the ultras.
One of those things... Suarez is his own worst enemy so entires, his reputation precedes him. Went down easily outside the box, rightly ignored by the ref, but because of that 2 pens waved off. I keep waiting for the slip up... Maybe without Danny and Hendo it will come in the next couple weeks. Feels like they might take this thing though.
Officiating was bad for both teams though. LFC had 2 penalties waved off. Which ones? Which big club doesn't have horrible annoying fans?
Yeah, dont feel bad for 11 year old ultras. Or the doctor ultra who saved someones life before being trampled. idiot. And I never said I do not feel sorry for Liverpool fans who died that day or the the conduct of the police over the years.
The slip-up for Liverpool may have already happened. They were what? 8 points from Arsenal when Arsenal were 1st and they were 5th? They made up for that and have won like 10 straight and been undefeated in 20 I think. They have been very impressive. As for that Chelsea game, anyone believe the 4th official had a say in that sending off? How is it, it took the ref so long to decide whether to issue a card or not and it wasn't like Chico was being a dick about fouling either. Something smells fishy...
