According to various tweets Canada is playing a friendly against South Korea today in Cyprus. South Korea is in a different group in the Cyprus Cup competition. Korea is probably looking for a tougher test and Canada gets to use players who are going to be left off the roster for the official competition. (Tiffany Cameron said she had to go back to school.)

No more international sporting events in China until their air is breathable. Seriously.

The first U20 camp of the new cycle announced for later this month in Portland. http://canadasoccer.com/canada-announces-women-s-national-excel-camp-p153454

One interesting addition is Emma Fletcher of the Whitecaps. She played in the U17 WC for New Zealand. The three K's are there: Kinley McNicoll of Wisconsin, Kylie Davis of Memphis, and Jade Kovacevic of LSU. Kovacevic is listed as CB, a position she doesn't seem to have played recently. Lawrence and Buchanan, of course, are at the Cyprus Cup and not included. Summer Clarke is on a European trip with her school.

Christina Julien has signed with Russian team Rossiyanka while it was reported by Chris Henderson that Seattle Reign has signed Erin McNulty.

Dani Foxhoven was the only one mentioned who stuck out the whole season. When she got back she said it was the hardest thing she had ever done.

If you want to read about it, she blogged about her experiences while she was there.

    Starts here: http://dfoxhoven.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

    Cheers for the link!

I lived in Kiev for a year as a student back in the day. Dani's living situation looks positively opulent compared to ours - and the pictures suggest that there was actually lots of stuff to buy in the stores. We lived more or less on canned fish, potatoes, and alcohol for several months . . . good times.

My wife spent 4 months in The Soviet Union in 1967. Her first comment was that there were actually things in the stores.

But real on... Opulence is hardly how I would describe the experience. She said some things hadn't changed at all.

    21' 0-0 la la la

    26' 0-0 Actually, it's entirely in Canada's 1/2. France presses but can't connect ...
27' 0-0 France long ground pass from 30m centerline hits #9 Le Sommer in stride at 25m arc left. Quick cut inside wrong-foots a defender, she dribbles through box top to 15m center and -- shanks high wide right.

33' 0-0 Thiney(?) passes from midfield left(?) through traffic to Necib at 30m center. She blasts a long low shot, hooks it wide left.

34' 0-0 Necib threads a vertical pass to 25m arc left, Canada 1-v-1 stumbles as Thiney(?) touches past her. Thiney runs to 20m arc left, flicks diagonally to 15m right post for Thomis running alone through box top. McLeod comes way out to 7m right post, Thomis tries to round her wide, McLeod dives to 9m and fingertips ball off Thomis's foot. Sizzle and fizzle!

40' 0-0 Thiney(?) overruns Matheson from behind near Canada's box top right. France are in annoying stealth blue jerseys with no number on the front.

42' 0-0 RCB #14 Buchanan passes across midfield! France promptly ping it away, pass long up 6-left but too far to McLeod.

43' 0-0 France connect long 25m ground passes from RB past midfield. Canada head away, but Georges picks it up running through circle right, to Necib(?) in center. Bad chip into right corner bounces too far for Thomis.

44' 0-0 #10 Abily jumps and heads ball forward, momentum carries her into #16 Filigno's forehead. Momentary stoppage for treatment.

45+1' 1-0 France surge up the left: square to Necib at 40m wide left, bing to Thiney(?) at 30m box left, ding outward to Le Sommer(?) at 25m left touch. Le Sommer crosses into a void at 20m arc top center, actually curling away from goal. Thomis outruns Filigno from box top right, gathers ball to arc left, stops it as Filigno overpursues, spins 180 and goes back to box arc top center. Blasts a rising golazo into the upper right 90, curling just over McLeod's dive.

HT 1-0. Canada have been oddly unable to contest even 50-50 balls. France is botching the passes, but just out-buzzing the defenders to collect them anyways.

46' 1-0 Le Sommer crosses to 6-top left, Buchanan and Thiney tangle legs and both go down. Abily runs onto the rebound at 15m mid-left, shoots low center, right to McLeod. Buchanan sits up, flexing her right knee.

48' 1-0 France surge into box left again. #13 Schmidt backtracks and dumps it over.
48' 1-0 France left corner, drops untouched at 6-top right post. Thomis(?) tries a grasstop volley, shanks it right.
