Ay news on the knock Miller picked up? I'm assuming he wasn't taken off at half against Costa Rica because of his performance. It's not like he was amazing, but I thought he was easily better than BO. Edit: Miller is on the bench, so maybe Ramos just prefers Boyd
@ussoccer_ynt: CAN Starters:18-Crépeau; 2-Dollery, 3- Lapenna, 4-Henry, 5-Stanese, 6-Piette, 7-Fisk, 9-Clarke, 12-Carreiro, 13-Riggi, 16-Eustaquio #USAvCAN
On twitter Kyle McCarthy seems to think its a 4-2-3-1 https://twitter.com/kylejmccarthy/status/306531025129988096
It can't be a 4-2-3-1, Joya and Trapp playing as DM's? Unless they are doing the pulley... With 2 CM's or just a 6 and an 8, at this point I will never understand or won't care until I see how they are executing...
Okwonou at RB? Joya as a cm? Rodriguez up top? Well, hopefully the guys out there get it done. Seems like we are repeating the things that didn't work well in the first game, though.
The stadium has seemed to fill up as the game goes along. Perhaps people getting off work for the early game.
USA (Tab Ramos): Ocegueda for Torre at LB. 20 Daniel Cuevas, 7 Jose Villarreal, 9 Mario Rodriguez 8 Benji Joya, 10 Luis Gil 6 Wil Trapp 3 Juan Pablos Ocegueda, 4(c) Caleb Stanko, 5 Shane O'Neill, 2 Boyd Okwuonu 1 Cody Cropper Canada (Nick Dasovic): Guessing at L/R in each line. Edit: better guesses. 9 Caleb Clarke, 7 Ben Fisk 6 Samuel Piette, 16 Mauro Eustáquio, 12 Dylan Carreiro, 13 Alessandro Riggi 3 Marco Lapenna, 5 Daniel Stanese, 4(c) Doneil Henry, 2 Jon Dollery 18 Maxime Crépeau
Basically we still only have five players defending. The backline and Trapp. The rest of the team continues to sit up field and wait for the ball. Not a fan of this.
10' 0-0 USA showing some decent early ping. We've rolled early vertical balls down right touch ~5 times for box right half-chances. Not much on the left so far. Canada has had fewer forays. 11' 0-0 USA counters up centerline, great early diagonal out-ball hits #20 Cuevas down box left to 7m. His cross try is slide-blocked out. 12' 0-0 USA deep left throw-in, switch across to the right. Down into right corner, cross blocked out. Canada finally settle it under pressure, unaimed longball to USA's backline.
13' 0-0 LB Ocegueda overlaps up the left to 8m, tries to cross into the defender, misses him and sails it way over. I guess we have only 4 defending and 6 up when he does that
If this is what Klinsmann means as attacking soccer, putting 5 ironically attacking players with only 1 anchoring the defense, then I'm not willing to look towards the future.
