Canada to face Armenia in February friendly
    Men's National Team 17 January 2012

Canada (FIFA 74/ELO 59) has announced it will face Armenia (FIFA 45/ELO 81) in an away Men's International Friendly match in Cyprus on 29 February. The match - a first-ever international meeting between the two nations - falls on the first FIFA International Date of the 2012 calendar year.

As this FIFA International Date provides just a short 72-hour window, head coach Hart expects to rely heavily on European-based players for the match in Europe. Some players may also not be available due to their in-season or off-season training schedules via club commitments.

Armenia recently posted five wins, two draws and three losses in Euro 2012 Qualifying, just falling short of a place in the final competition scheduled for later this year.

"Armenia had a very good run before the team was eliminated." said Head Coach Stephen Hart.

Canada is in preparation for CONCACAF Round 3 of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers Brazil. Last year in CONCACAF Round 2, Canada advanced after posting an unbeaten record of four wins and two draws. Canada's 2012 opponents from June to September are Cuba, Honduras and Panama. The top-two teams from the four-team group will advance to the CONCACAF Final Round in 2013.

From a broadcast stand point, I'd like to know if Cyprus has better a internet connection than St. Kitts and whether a webcast is possible lol.

All jokes aside, I don't think there would be a TV feed anywhere but it would suck if all we got were just video highlights like the Belarus game instead of the full match somewhere.

i wouldn't worry, i'd be shocked if there wasn't a stream somewhere. it may be a friendly, but it's not nearly as obscure from a technical or sporting standpoint as our away qualifying games in st. lucia and st. kitts & nevis.

There are lots of Armenia supporters living in Canada, USA, and Australia, so I'm sure some sort of stream will turn up.

Really, then how come your ELO rating is so much lower than ours? And how come you guys only have a few players associated with big clubs, doesn't look like too much to be scared of there. And why did you give a 19 year old girl a callup? (Karen Israelyan)

All posted in jest. I have about as much clue about the Armenian NT as this guy does about the Canadian :)

so would u tell me please with this information of u how did u prove that ANT is underdog, and doesn't have the ability to crash the Canadian NT?when team like Arsenal FC,will be interested player like H.Mkhitaryan, and he will show no interest whatsoever to get transfer, when team like totenham hotspurs will be interested player like Y movsesyan ,and player doesn't show interest to get transferred to other club then his recent one,let me tell u something mate im not here to say who is what but i just gave my opinion on the match and more ,think team like slovakia that put Italy out of world cup, gose to Armenia and get a beat of 3-1,and in there home field they get trashed 4-0,thats a team u have to watch in to,ur not going to be playing Ecuador,u will be playing a team that in just 4 matches scored 21 goals against a teams, like russia, ireland, slovakia, maccedonia ,and trashing everyone of them no matther where,by the way canada ranked i think 73 on fifa ranking Armenia rank 45 so its a team better then urs for sure, enjoy and i will be commenting her after the game

I already acknowledged what I know about the Armenian team, now why don't you admit what you know about the Canadian team. ZERO!

If you want to come on someone else's forum and talk smack, expect it in return.

Seeing as you like the FIFA ranking over the more accurate ELO rating, you do realize Slovakia (39) is only three places higher than Ecuador (42) Your example is even worse on ELO - Slovakia (70) Ecuador (25)

Hell, Ecuador is above Armenia in both rankings. You shouldn't talk smack about teams you have no clue about.

Wow. An Armenian-Canadian pissing match. Just wow.

We need to find some common ground. Can't we all agree that the Azerbaijani National Football Team is a joke?

They have a FIFA ranking of 111. What a bunch of losers. They're pathetic. We'd BOTH kick their Azerbaijani asses!
    1 people repped this.

When you've been a Canadian team fan for as long as I have no team is a joke. This latest generation Canadian NT has "elevated" underachievement to an art form.

Yes but if you look at the TV schedule on Sportsnet, you'll notice they've dedicated a 2.5 hour block of time to the game which means there's probably a pre/post game show (likely pre) and a halftime show to go along with the game. We don't play that many games as it is, so if we're going to get a pre/post game too, I kind of want to catch as much of that as possible.

Plus if Sportsnet streams it, the commentary will be in a language I understand :D

armenia face serbia the day before on the 28th, so i'd estimate at least 3/4 of their "first choice" squad will play in that fixture and not the next day against canada. still, you'd have to consider armenia favourites.

canada will also premiere their new umbro kits on the 29th, which in my opinion, look pretty bad!

i'm not sure why they moved away from their other design so quickly. i was a huge fan of them, but i know others weren't feeling it. STILL, this? i love simple design but this is just hugely uninspired and looks like a warm-up kit at best, ughhhh. i'll give them credit for sharp socks though. i don't know..i'm hoping they look better on the pitch but i won't hold my breath.
