Watching us go head to head yesterday, and a few years ago in that infamous Gold Cup game, I've come to the reality that we're now equals as far as a North American soccer superpowers.

They remind me a lot of our team, hard working team, no major superstar player, and they try and accomplish things as a unit, to become greater than the sum of our parts.

I'm still worried that our controversial win against them a few years ago is going to come and bite us in the ass during qualifiers.

I would rank Concacaf like this...

    1./2. U.S./Canada
    3. Mexico (overrated)
    4. Costa Rica
    5. Hondorus

I think Canada plays up to our level just was we sometimes play up the the level of better teams. I suspect we are the team they most want to beat. They looked pretty good yesterday, but I will wait to see how they do down in Central America before drawing any conclusions. Just look at the how they performed against us in the pre-Olympics vs all their other games in that competition. Like night and day.

I dont htink so. canada had 100% rest and was better rested than we were.
    thats it.
mexico is by far better than US or Canada.

A rested US versus a rested canada. we win. 9 times out of 10.
sorry guys it is the truth.

3 games in 8 days and 2 a day training between each match.

we always raise our game agaianst the US, on days when the US dont play well and look out of sorts the best we can hope for is a draw like yesterday, we have not beaten the US since 85 and the game yesterdfay was the first clean sheet in many years, (ten i think)

way too soon to be talking equality

One draw does not equals make.

And really? Canada tied with the US and both rated over Mexico? Let's just watch how qualifying plays out and you can come back and revisit that evaluation. You may in fact be the only person in the known soccer universe to rate Canada above Mexico.

I argue the opposite. We were in rythm and in sync, look at how much better we did versus Brazil than Mexico did. We played a nice stretch of games, played Brazil toe to toe, unlike Mexico who looked terrible against Brazil.

So with that, i'm suprised, but i'm not surprised we tied Canada.

btw, what the hell happened to this forum? This section use to be popping.

I'm so sick of hearing about Mexico, they're not as good as people think.

You take Gio, Guardado, and itty bitty pea out of the equation and you have a team that the U.S. kills and Canada goes toe to toe with.

Oh stop with the modesty, that goal should have counted. We go back and back forth sometimes with the Slovenia goal, you can do the same with that called off goal of yours, well played to you guys.

I'm not despairing or anything. It was a bad game with the wrong selection of players given what had been played before with bad tactics to boot, but you were a bad call away from getting the result you would have wanted.

    I disagree...

    1. Mexico
    2. US
    3. Hondo
    4. Costa Rica / Canada

As much as it pains me to put Mexico #1, reality is that right now - they are deservedly there...

I think we are the solid 2...

I do think Canada has one of their stronger sides in a while... and that our play and form yesterday was as much about the recent game schedule and non-stop double-session training as anything else... We were a tired side and it showed.

I like that Klinsi is running these guys a bit ragged to see how they respond...

At some point soon, we'll need to get a W when tired and dragging... and it's goodto see what we're made of...

Quick question to the rest of the posters in here...is Albee serious?

Canada is not even with the US, Mexico is not 3rd in the region, Mexico did not play terrible vs Brazil, and he says Mexico is terrible by taking half their squad out (isn't that the case with most?), heck take out Dempsey/Donovan/Dolo and tell me how good the US would be?

Thats a joke bro. Canada is our little brother. Playing them in a friendly without any kind of tournament meaning, is like playing your little brother. Wheres the motivation to play your best? Anyone that calls it a rivalry is hilarious. All the things the US has done for Canadian soccer, they adore us. But yh I also think fatigue & the unfair Brazil thrashing probably had a little involvement as well.

As long as we're talking about Canada, anyone else have fond memories of when they qualified for the cup before the US in 1986 when we were both trying to get back in the game with Tino Lettieri, world's shortest goalie?

Sorry, Mexico just isn't as good as Canada. You think Mexico could feature players from the 3.Liga and Romanian 2nd Division? You think Mexico has the talent to give a run out to a kid who has no club? Face it, you are washed up like yesterdays laundry. Might as well just fold up your NT because our northern cousins are World XI quality.

There is no way Canada is above Costa rica...Costa rica is debatably 2nd in the region right now.

 to Albee for rightfully parodying the ignorance of other posters. He did this last year when people here were saying they were better even though they lost. If those delusional posters would see how ridiculous posts like that look, then they'd realize how foolish their own posts are.
