And I will have these players in a ranking order count-down, so can someone please put them in order so I can have a idea what number the players should be.

    Zico
    Cruyff
    Platini
    Puskas
    Beckenbaur
    George Best
    Romario
    Ronaldo
    Zidane
    Ronaldinho
    Messi

thats a hard question man im not too sure, Maradona was very skillful but the others were too, but Pele is #1.
how does Garrincha compare in tricks and skills?

My grandfather has watched every world cup since the 60s, and he told me nobody is better than Pele.
And my grandfather watched them all play for the World Cup (Live TV)

He was more skill-full in its simplicity. Maradona often choose the hard way, so he appeared to be more skilful. Cruyff also often choose the simple way; his technique often came to the surface when the ball was played badly towards him, for example when the ball came behind him. Then he used his heel to control it etcetera.
    Example:

In all other instances it was very simple what he did because he made the right choice and so did Pelé.

Interesting that you rate Zidane below Messi, since you are knowledgeable about french players.

Messi already has a better career than about half of those players, that's all.

Spot on. As much as I like Zizou I never thought he would become a top 5-10 player ever, even at the peak of his carreer. At the opposite I think Messi is already not far from this level.

Zidane is technically a level above Messi.

Personally my ranking of those players comes out like this:
    1 Pele
    2 Cruyff, 3 Maradona
    4 Platini, 5 Best
    6 Zidane, 7 Beckenbauer
    8 Ronaldo, 9 Puskas
    10 Ronaldinho, 11 Zico
    12 Garrincha
    13 Romario, 14 Messi
    - Young prospect - Neymar

The players on the same line are pretty much equally rated and actually I'd have 6-11 all about equal but thought I'd better split them more. Cruyff and Maradona could be arguably about equal with Pele I think.

So there's another opinion, but I'm sure whatever the final order it'll be a nice gift :).

Maybe it is fairer to split out per era because the game football (rules, equipment) changes over time.

Maybe I was also a bit harsh towards Zidane. Seen from the era-perspective Zidane will be my nr.1 between 1995-2005. of course he faded sometimes in great matches but so did Ronaldinho and Ronaldo (and Messi nowadays).

I thinking of something like this.
Im a big fan of Ronaldo so I wanted him in my TOP 3 because in his prime 96-02 he was the best.
And I put my TOP 5 to be exciting skillful players.

    1. Pele
    2. Maradona
    3. Ronaldo
    4. Cruyff
    5. Garrincha
    6. Beckenbaur
    7. Platini
    8. Zico
    9. Ronaldinho
    10. Messi (Until Now)
    11. Puskas
    12. Romario
    13. Zidane
    14. George Best

    Neymar (Best Talent)

But where should I put Neymar? right at the start of the video? or at the end just before Pele? because I want Pele as the last player because thats my Grandfathers favourite player.

    Thanks

Surely his talents and abilities have a lot to do with that.

    Explain how.
