I think Porter can be a really good coach it's just that his inexperience showed during qualifying last year.
This is the thread that you replied to... BimmerBenz95 said: ↑ We had Terrence Boyd who should have started in the 2nd game against Canada. The defense and Porter's coaching decisions were the big reasons why the U23s failed to qualify.I actually believe Klinsmann had final say on player selection. I thought he did an inferior job. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was under the impression that Porter picked his players for roster and game selection. Boyd I believe was JK's choice, when Porter wasn't going to use him for the Mexico friendly JK asked Porter to release Boyd to him so he can take a better look at the Italy friendly. Bottom line, JK did not have final say so in most of Porter's doings.
Personally I wanna see the 4-4-2 for tonight but we don't have many wide midfielders so we will likely see the 4-3-3
hes a fantastic defender, hes no marvel wynne. He and Beitas real coming out parties was the All Star match. And when people are actually mentioning Edgar Castillo's name as a serious left back option despite the fact he cant defend, it warrants enough consideration. Morrow is the anti-Castillo. Hes just a bullish tenenacious defender that actually looks to get in and tackle, he does all the things you want. theres a reason he was called in, hes a very serious option and those unfamiliar with him will learn just how good he is today. We are talking about a serious upgrade over the Pearce, Bornstein types we saw last cycle. Surely when we are trotting Bocanegra and Parkhurst out at left back you have to be at least entertaining the idea of someone who plays the poisition and doesnt embarrass himself. Perhaps its a good thing you havent seen/heard much, people seldom pay attention specifically to outside backs, and thats understandable. any time we have a left back that doesnt make us have a heart attack as USMNT fans we should be grateful, it wasnt too long ago that constantly happened.
Morrow sneak onto the Honduras game roster if Johnson, Dolo are out. Castillo would prob start and Chandler would start at RB. Morrow would go as backup, we'll see how he does tonight.
Anyone else see Juan's tweet? Makes me think he's starting tonight. https://twitter.com/jagudelo11/status/296393383100940289
If anything it would likely be Chandler at left back and Parkhurst out right rather than Parkhurst again at left back.
As in you're in Canada, or want Canadian announcers? I know the game is on ESPN 2 so it will be streamed on ESPN3.com...at least where I am.
It's what JK will probably do but honestly I'd much rather Parkhurst be at LB than Chandler. When Parkhurst was forced out left it didn't seem to effect his overall game nearly as much as it does Chandler's. Chandler just isn't comfortable on the left side of the field...
Meh, Parkhurst just looked to be a placeholder. Trying to defend and not give the ball away. Chandler may be a question mark defensively, but at least he created some decent chances with Shea. Still I'm a firm proponent of left sided players playing left back.
With Dolo and Fab being out he would be a lock starter. My point being: with our sudden injury woes at fullback if Chandler decides to decline this call, whatever his reason may be (when we would desperately need his services) I don't want him called again for this cycle, period.
Hmm... That would surprise me a bit, I would've sworn he'd be a 45' or 60' sub, but yeah, it does sound like it.
He probably auto start if Dolo were there. I just refuse to believe he will be until proven otherwise. Foll me once......
IF (and it's a big if, TBD in about a week) he declines this calll-up for Honduras, then I doubt very much that Klinsi would keep his phone number this time.
Yeah, that too. Oh well, we'll find out for sure in about an hour or so, right around the time I'm heading to the soccer bar.
