Here's one out of nowhere: Everton are weighing up a move for American starlet Camden Buescher after the forward enjoyed a trial period with the club. The Under 17 forward currently plays for the Pacesetter academy in Ohio and he is understood to have been spotted by Everton scout Jim Barron - the former Wolves and Aston Villa assistant manager - during the Pacesetter English Premier League soccer camp earlier this year. It is believed that Buescher trained with the Everton youth teams during his ten day trial at Goodison Park, although his hopes were hampered after picking up an ankle injury on just his second day on Merseyside. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2517987/Everton-want-American-striker-Camden-Buescher.html I'm not sure whether he's a HS senior or junior. An old profile lists him as 5' 7", 150 lbs.
Related: Hat tip to TDS, who reported that the trial was going to take place in early November. Hadn't seen this before. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/high...nt-mid-trains-with-manchester-united_aid31838
... Brian Quinn, Joe-Max Moore, Marcus Hahnehmann, Brian McBride, Tim Howard, Espen Baardsen, Предраг Радосављевић...
He's a junior in high school. http://www.sjjtitans.com/profile.asp?playerID=237 Found this on his club's facebook page. --------- Pacesetter Soccer Club U17 player Camden Buescher will be spending ten days over Thanksgiving break training with the English Premier League (EPL) giants Everton Football Club! Buescher played for the Pacesetter/Aston Villa Super 20 Team and also attended the Pacesetter English Premier League soccer camp last summer. During the Pacesetter Camp, Buescher was spotted by Everton scout and former Aston Villa Assistant Coach Jim Barron. He was extremely impressed with the talent level of Buescher. Jim Barron, along with a number of other celebrity coaches, come over every year to work the Pacesetter EPL Summer Camps. During his time at Everton, Camden will be training with the Academy team and will also get to attend the Everton and Liverpool Derby game. Everton has strong ties with America USA World Cup Stars Tim Howard and Landon Donovan who are both representing Everton in the English Premier League.
Here's a piece that says "planning a move" for Buescher rather than "weighing" one, but the article seems to pretty much be a rewrite of the Mail article. (And the headline still says "ponders" so I would assume there's no news here.) http://www.adifferentleague.co.uk/p...g-american-striker-buescher.html#.UqCC4fmkqhI
Camden Buescher @cbuescher10 Mar 26 Just verbally committed to play for Northwestern thanks to everyone who has helped and supported me! #GoCats pic.twitter.com/aR0EmWFDVw
Uggh. It's one thing that he's going to play college soccer. But he's not going to the ACC or out west. He's playing in the Big Ten.
It's might not be ideal, but he could do worse than the Big Ten. There are strong programs like IU, Michigan State, and Maryland's even joining next year. NU is actually pretty good too, I think they get a fair amount of kids from the Fire academy. There have been tons of players from smaller schools make it professionally too, so if he really wants to do that this shouldn't stop him. A Northwestern degree isn't a bad backup either.
Exactly. If Tesho Akindele can get noticed playing Division II soccer for the Colorado School of Mines, then I suspect Buescher, who seems to be highly rated, shouldn't have trouble finding a shot professionally (if he has a good college career).
