Byelorussian & Ukrainian Ssr Question

    they were separate members in United Nations

    why didn't they join FIFA?

    Their membership in the UN was an exception (Stalin requested it as a pre-condition to USSR joining the UN as a founding member). Besides, membership in UN and membership in FIFA were never meant to be one-to-one.

    If I were to guess, he wanted to expand socialist camp's representation (especially given the sacrifice made by the two republics in the WWII)

    He wanted more votes in UN so he split them up. His men sat in these positions always.
