I know most folks are shifting to digital downloads (via bittorrent) to watch old matches because the media is (mostly) free, but I can't stare at the computer screen that long. I guess there's still something about watching from the comfort of the couch and watching with other people. Anyway, can anyone recommend a good site to purchase DVD-R or VHS tapes of older World Cup matches with original commentary in English (I'm especially interested in 1970 and 1982)? Someone who would be reasonable in terms of price and isn't a scam artist. Take care.

Toffs sells DVDs of old matches, including a boxset of the 1966 World Cup final. Most of the rest are classic FA Cup matches going back as far as the 1953 final between Bolton and Stanley Matthews' Blackpool team. Prices are in British pounds and I believe the higher priced DVDs will be entire matches and the rest might only be highlights. But I'm not entirely certain of that.

    edit:
Actually, it appears that the older (pre-1970 or so) DVDs are more expensive than those of the 1970s forward.

You guys are all asking unreal prices for these matches. $10-$15 a game, that's crazy. Why not not share it with people over some ****************?

well, in my opinion $10 is not a "crazy" price for an old DVD soccer match
please remember that some collectors payed much more than $15/ game for older games, so that's why it's not possible to share it for "free" over **************** webpages ... (for example, myself i paid $170 USD to someone in Australia , for a single DVD - very rare soccer match ....;) )

HUNGARY vs ROMANIA 1-1 (29 April 1972 in Budapest) - Euro'72 play-off (1/4 final)- no commentary , stadium noise only, very good picture, unfortunately it plays on my PC only, it doesn't work on my standalone DVD player !!!!

I still have three sets of the 2002 US games plus a few qualifiers -- 8 dvd-rs for $15 total, includes shipping in the US. I can always burn more, but I think demand has been pretty much satisfied at this point.

btw, if anyone has a very clean copy of 2006 US vs. Ghana, I'd be happy to trade for it.

    just PM me.

This is more like it. Reasonable prices. Why is it that anyone who has the Italy matches from 06 is charging around $100 for them??
If you've got the Italy 06 matches without the ESPN/ABC announcers and are reasonable give me a PM cause I'm still looking for them. thanks!

I may have them somewhere -- I'm in the middle of remodelling my house, but if I can find them, I'll be happy to burn the games.

Cost would be around $5 for all three games including shipping in the US. Quality is ok, but not nearly as good as the other discs I've distributed from time to time -- they are a dvd copy of a vhs copy of a vhs tape of the broadcast.

I used to trade a lot with someone named Nick who lived in Montreal and with RPVC which were in Italy. It seems both of them are offline these days. Does anybody know what happened to them?
