Every time I see those pictures I get chills. It's yet another excellent example of how important/life-saving it can be to use a seat belt. For those who did not know, apparently Diego was the only one of the four people in the car wearing one... In the end, he was the only person that left the vehicle alive.

As bad as that car is, it's a miracle he wasn't hurt worse than he was.

What's crazy is that Diego was still ejected out of the vehicle while wearing a seat belt!!! There's no doubt that it saved his life.

It's a Peugeot 307, it seems hard to figure what that car was without knowing it beforehand. Apparently they're trying to find out if its computer or whatever it has is in working so they could find out what happened.

Right. All I can say, It was not his time to go.

for his amigos, 'Only the best die young' german song from Böhse Onkelz

Aren't the Toten Hosen popular in Argentina ? This song Nur zu Besuch /Sólo de visita and especially its chorus is one of the most emotional existing...

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOzMWu0awMY"]YouTube- Die Toten Hosen - Nur zu Besuch[/ame]

Si no te gustan, no te molestes

Y todavía llega correo bastante gordo dirigido a ti,

It's incredible that anyone managed to get out of that wreckage alive. My sympathy and thouhgts are with the relatives of those who died.

Is it manadotory by law to wear seat belts in Argentina?

River doctor said to the journalists to be careful on what they broadcast, since he can watch TV now.

    Terrible news!

Hope he recovers well!I wish him the best!

I know he was wearing his seatbelt according to some of you but I wonder if he survived due to his small frame,it probably played an important part.

    Get well Diego!

An article I found in Olé.... http://www.ole.clarin.com/notas/2009/12/29/futbollocal/02109957.html

They are trying to determine which factors played a role in the accident: alcohol, negligence, imprudence, speed, and road conditions.

From the pictures of the destroyed 307, I can't imagine at what speeds the car must have been traveling at...incredible!

Anyhow, I would not want to be in Buonanotte's shoes right now...

    :)

That would be the BEST and most optimistic scenario .I think the injuries, broken arm etc...are healed in two months. Time heals also the mental wounds, he is strong, but things will never be the same again.

What akd_ posted makes an interesting point, depending of the circumstances of the crash, well he could face some legal troubles in top of everything...

Then again when they found it it probably said something like "VERDE VAS A CORRER" or "BERLUSCONI 2008" or stuff like that.

If Buonanotte was intoxicated and travelling at ridiculous speeds, the tune my very well change, regarding him as a victim. I hope it's just a normal accident.

just like the charlie davies accident - this just goes to show that nothing good happens when you're out late night...

Buonanotte is one of my favorite players and it's devastating to hear this. especially if he was a potential transfer target to sunderland. from a futbol point of view, it will stink to see him gone for most of 2010, but he is still young and will come back one day and regain his form.

from a personal point of view - i hope he can recover psychologically from such a devastating accident.

It's hard to say for sure from the picture just exactly what's going through his head but he does look pretty down which should be expected.
