there is an iussue about Buffon to be clarified.... Watch this video: he refused to shake hands with an Israeli goalkeeper.. I think political iussues should be kept out a football pitch...what do you think about his behaviour? [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IkNF64cSVc"]Buffon ignore an Israelian - YouTube[/ame]
Not good. I just read FIFA calls for more on-field handshakes...... http://sports.yahoo.com/soccer/news?slug=ap-fifa-handshakes
^This is ridiculous. We don't know whether it was intentional or not. He may have been in deep concentration and just was focused on getting back to the field I highly doubt Gigi would do this intentionally. He is always one of the first to pick up a striker and smile at him, say some friendly words, and touch the back of his head as he trots back. From what I can tell, he is an exceptionally nice person. When was this anyway? Like a year or two ago? C'mon, nothing will come of this.
Umm they most likely shook hands when they exchanged banners, each goalie was holding a banner from the other team. It's easy to make comments with 15 seconds of video, especially when it doesn't show what happened right before hand.
Exactly. What about the other guy leaving before shaking the refs hand and Buffon's. He seems to walk off then remembers he needs to shake their hands.
L'Ansa conferma: Buffon non è indagato dalla Procura di Torino http://www.tuttojuve.com/?action=read&idnotizia=96756
^^^^ Thank you. As OL just posted, not according to ANSA. Funny how this comes from the Cazzetta and La Repubblica the day after Buffon publicly criticizes the Italian media on how they've handled Calcioscommesse.
I don't see the big deal. Didn't they already clear him that he was a compulsive gambler a few years back?
Compulsive? Dunno about that, but yes, during the Calciopoli scandal he was investigated for betting and was completely cleared of any wrong doing by the sporting justice. This particular case has nothing to do with gambling whatsoever. According to Gigi the money paid for his Rolex watch collection and helped purchase a mortgage for some land. This was investigated two years ago and, again according to Gigi, he has the receipts to prove it. This non-controversy is retribution for his press conference the other day.
I know I remember reading Buffon had a sort of gambling fetish and bet on everything from cards to horses. Supposedly, from what I remember he said (back then) he never bet against Juventus. Considering they always won in those years, don't see how he can bet against them and/or try and lose when they mostly won. 29 dic 2006 Figc archivia inchiesta Buffon "Nessuna scommessa illegale" http://www.repubblica.it/2006/12/se...ffon/archiviato-buffon/archiviato-buffon.html
This is what I posted in the Scandal thread on the front page of the Italy section: Juve's Buffon out of gambling trouble (Xinhua) Updated: 2006-12-30 13:53 Juventus keeper Gianluigi Buffon was cleared of illegal gambling by a Turin prosecutor on Friday. The 28-year-old, who kept goal for Italy in their triumphant World Cup campaign this year, was suspected of betting on five Juventus matches between 2004 and 2005. After a review of the evidence, Turin prosecutor Stefano Palazzi decided to archive Buffon's case. Also cleared were former Juventus players Antonio Chimenti, Enzo Maresca and Mark Iuliano. Buffon admitted placing bets on Juve matches when he voluntarily appeared before prosecutors in Turin on May 13, but insisted he stopped when the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) made gambling on any game an offence last year. Players found guilty of breaking the FIGC's rules on gambling face bans of anything from three months to three years. Buffon's aquittal brought some festive cheer to Juve after a black year for the 'Old Lady'. Juventus were relegated to Italy's second division and given a nine-point handicap for their role in this year's top flight match-fixing scandal. The Turin club were also stripped of the league titles they won in the 2004-05 and the 2005-06 seasons and were denied entry into the European Champions League. http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/sports/2006-12/30/content_771936.htm
