haha I watched it again last night, too. Seidenberg and Chara were trying to eat the Sedin's. Marchand looked 7 feet tall.
Boston's "Big 4" have each won a championship in the last 7 years. Unprecedented. Hard to believe the Pats have gone the longest without a title. The previous record for one city was 12 years (NY), from 1968 to 1980 (Jets, Mets, Knicks and Islanders). The only other cities to even win all 4 are LA (if you include the Anaheim Ducks), Chicago and Detroit ('57 Lions).
Someone tried to sell me on the fact that Boston's 5 teams have won 'The Oldest continuously extant National Championship in their sport' given the 07 USOC title for the Revs. I yelled at him a bit
I don't want the celebrations to end. Can we have another parade today? I might have to watch my DVR recording of the parade today.
just watch this on repeat edit: ummmm why won't the youtube embedding work?
I pretty much have spent my sunday commenting on how bad the Revs FO is and watching the NHL Networks Path to the Cup. I am never going to get sick of this [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSuEoVsHfJ4"]YouTube - Boston Bruins: 2011 Stanley Cup Champions - History Will Be Made‏[/ame]
Well, of the 30-40 "major league" cities, there are only a handful that even have teams in all 4 sports, so in fairness, a city can only win a championship if it has a team in that sport. Then you have cities like NY and LA that have 2 (or more) teams in each sport, so they have better odds that at least one of them might win. So if you count cities with one team per sport, and at least 3 sports, that's a fairer comparison. Tampa came pretty close with the Bucs and Lightning winning recently and the Rays losing the World Series to the Phillies. The Penguins and Steelers have recently won, but the Pirates haven't had a decent team in like 20 years. Chicago had the Whie Sox, Blackhawks winning, the Bears losing the SB to the Dolts, and the Bulls winning in the Jordan era and they are good enough that they might win in the next couple of years. All I can think of is how 5 teams winning championships would be a record that would never be broken, and if it wasn't for a Winston Griffiths shot 1/4-inch too high, Avery John's head at a slightly different angle, and Pando-Freakin-Ramirez not stepping in dog crap when he tripped over the unicorn on his way to the pot of gold next to the leprechaun at the end of the rainbow... What might have been
anyone see that email going around with a copy of the Bruins bar tab at MGM/Mohegan sun casino? $156,679.74! Fun night for sure
Nice catch! Actually, they had a 20 year run: '60 Eagles, '67 76ers, '75 Flyers and '80 Phillies That's what I get for starting with the Superbowl era (which eliminated PHI) and then changing my mind and going back to 1947 (start of the NBA), which added DET, and of course PHI. Yes, I am a geek.
So the NHL schedule is coming out soon. Who do you want to see come to town on Banner Night? Who do you think *will* be the one coming? Off-the-wall prediction: we'll host Winnipeg in their first game, live on versus. Reasonable prediction: Rangers, Leafs or Penguins on Versus Possible, but I hope not: Habs (B's-Habs circus would be unnecessary on banner night)
