Andy, I know that you are not a big fan of the lower level leagues, that is your choice. I have something to say to you that may come as a huge surprise. Most of us operating teams at the national and regional level, do it for the love of the game, not the transfer fee. If I have a player that FC Dallas or even the Charleston Battery wants, I am more than happy to pass the kid along. If they want to take my entire roster, we would be excited about the gift that our players are given. Once players are moved up, it makes it so much easier to back fill the empty slots. We are in the developmental business, if we do our jobs right, business is much easier. I would love to see the Roughnecks playing in the SPSL. The Lobos took the summer off and may be moving to Dallas, so we are in need of a new OK team or two.
There was plan (that got scuttled) to have a reunion game of the 1983 Tulsa Roughnecks against the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers in a charity match for the Missouri tornado victims. Unfortunately, the Strikers balked at the idea. Tulsa could do well to land a club in the new NASL. If San Antonio start next season, its a neighboring rival.
I only remember that a MLS pre season game in Tulsa somewhere in 2003 I believe had 15 K I believe it were the FC Dallas and the KC Wizards at Skelly stadium
From pg 1.... "But the announced crowd of 14,025 proved to be the most important figure of the day. Fans seemed excited from the continuing offensive fireworks, pledging 2,500 season tickets, as Kansas City atoned for a 2-1 loss to Columbus in last week's preseason game at Wantland Stadium in Edmond." Actually Kansas City played preseason games there in back to back years. Once vs Dallas, the other vs Columbus. I do have renderings in my archives somewhere of the "MLS Stadium" that someone was proposing to build. There was a specific location. I'll have to dig into my notes, but it was definitely in that time frame. Wade Jackson actually shot both of those games in Oklahoma.
UCO. There was a two-part plan to overhaul Wantland Stadium. The first part was completed, but the second part (increase capacity, upperdeck,etc...) was contingent on an MLS franchise. It was originally, i think, being pushed by Express Sports. Havent heard anything since.

Could be an opportunity. FC Tampa Bay Roughnecks? I mean, if they can't afford to buy back the "Rowdies" name, it looks like this one might be available.
Question, Rufnex: Do you actually own the Roughnecks trademark, or does Classic Ink own that one too?
