I still truly feel like building in Bridgeview was a mistake. Well for one selfish reasons because its about an hour drive from where I live haha and second I just wish it was built closer to the city. I understand it would have been hard to do finding the space but still. I haven't been following this whole thing with the leases and stuff but is it that serious though? Could there be a chance we move from Bridgeview anytime soon or no?
It's kinda hard to build it closer to the city, the stadium is a 5 minute drive from the city limit. No, there is no chance we'll move from Bridgeview anytime in the next 10 years. It's more likely the Fire will leave Chicago entirely.
We did find 'space' in the city. The city of Chicago and Mayor Daley wouldn't play ball. Pun intended.
Being an hour away from a quality entertainment option like a pro soccer stadium is a luxury that a vast majority of people in the USA don't have.
10h 33m driving for me to get from my home to RFK which is the MLS stadium. While I'm at school, I'm only 45 minutes from the Revs, but I wouldn't call them a quality option
mehhh I guess, but if I want to make that drive I'd rather drive into the city haha. I wasn't to familiar with where the stadium would have been then in the city. Where was the location suppose to be at?
I know of people in the suburbs who don't want to drive to Bridgeview (35 min drive) more than once a year or two. Put it back in SF and it might as well be on the moon. If the stadium was within the Chicago city limit anywhere off 90, my 40 min drive would now be an hour and 45.
Well another reason why I hate it out in Bridgeview was when it was in Naperville it was a 10 minute drive from me haha so much closer although, I wasn't a big soccer fan when they were out by me. I've been to North Central's stadium though for football and it really would seem kind of awful to watch soccer from there.
I went to SF,NCC,and now TP. I will go where the Fire plays. City people do act like anything in the suburbs is like driving to the ends of the earth. Just be glad you have a soccer specific stadium and quit whining.
I actually do live out in the suburbs.....and I am glad we have a SSS, much better than in SF and NCC.
I was keen on NCC. Love the commute and the pre and post game amenities. Bridgeview is like Flint, MI . . . with the smell of refined corn products in the air.
Downtown Naperville is great, I definitely agree and the march to the match right after tailgating at the bars would be sooo easy..
This goes the other way too. My 90 y/o grandpa has lived in DuPage County most of his life, yet he claims he has never entered the city limits.
I enjoyed the area around the ncc stadium, the bars and restaurants were great but artificial turf with gridiron lines and metal bleachers,no thanks.
