The Breakers will announce the signing of Australian international Sarah Walsh today. To make room for the addition of another international player, the team waived Canadian forward Christine Latham on Friday. Christine has cleared waivers and is a free agent. She has been invited to workout with the Breakers as a non-rostered free agent during the team's upcoming tryout and pre-season period. Full release to follow shortly on BostonBreakers.com Andy
Boston Breakers Sign Aussie Free Agent Walsh “Sarah has fantastic speed and attacking abilities,” said Head Coach Tony DiCicco. “She loves to get behind defenses and has the ability to score herself and create goals for her teammates." DiCicco added, "Her leadership and experience will also provide a lot to our success. I look forward to coaching her and I think the Breaker fans will love her work ethic and abilities.”
This is interesting. Nobody in our fantasy league drafted Sarah Walsh as a discovery player, so I don't know how we're gonna deal with this one. Nobody has the rights to her now, and we still haven't determined how we're gonna choose a pecking order for who gets to draft free-agents available in what exact order, and so on. I have Schelin as a discovery player, but since there's less than a 0.1% chance she'll be in the WPS in 2010, then I am thinking about dropping Schelin and picking up Walsh as a disovery forward, and then adding her to my roster (18-man roster, or I should say 18-woman roster that is).
The phrase "WPS Fantasy League" just seems I don't know, full of wrongness? Didn't know that such a thing actually existed.
