If we look back at the most recent residency cycles, the pattern seems to be to invite between 15-20 players for the initial fall semester of a new cycle and then fill out the additional slots to get to 40 players by the spring semester.

Rob, I have a story request. When that list is announced, could you put a hypothetical list of players that USSF would like to invite but can't due to citizenship questions? I'm sure you hear more of the back stories and players declining the residency invites but, there must be candidates the ussf would like invite but can't.

I believe it's 26 or so coming in vying for the WC roster of 21.

There will be 14 or so 94s/95s coming in as well. The full group of younger kids will be coming in Jan 2010.

I heard Eric Gonzalez of the Galaxy U-16 is going. He's a 94 and definitely talented.

I have seen Gonzalez play with the youth academy and some NAT games...good ball handling skills and can hold the ball well,,excellent passer of the short and long passes...good vision..excellent touch,,Not the fastest player,,but great work rate. Too bad for the Galaxy for losing him.

The Galaxy retain their rights to him should he sign with MLS.

Good for them. It gives some other guys the ability to show themselves at Nigeria.

Exactly, the more exposure the better. That's what matters at this age group. Good for Gyau and Renken and good for the U-17s.
