    Felicitaciones amigos Colombianos!

Recibe a Aurora y cierra visitando a Gremio.

Unfortunately I don't see Chico winning in Porto Alegre.....:( That means that for the first time since.....Hell, I don't even remember since when Colombia won't be represented in the 2nd phase of the Copa Libertadores. Add to that our crappy situation in the qualifiers and our worst failure in the Copa America since 1989 and eventually our joke that we are close to be Peru won't be a funny joke anymore.....
Ohhhh and one other thing: Peru has TWO qualified teams for the second round in the Libertadores.

Ya, the colombian league seems horrible right now compared to the rest of the continent. I hope it's only a bit of bad luck this season, because over the last couple of years we've been performing reasonably well.

Anyway, I think Chico has a good chance of making it, because Gremio already clinched 1st place so they won't need to win it, also I think Chico can qualifiy with a draw and hope that Aurora doesn't get blown out by U de Chile. Our odds are fairly good, and I really hope Chico can do it because it would be a shame if no Colombian team made it to the 2nd stage.

But remember that Chico is second and the only form that Chico gets eliminated is that they loose in Brazil and that Universidad de Chile win in Bolivia, is the only way. Chico can tie and they can pass to the other stage... so that means, Forza Aurora!!! :D

I think that with a few exceptions, colombian teams advancing to later stages of Libertadores only showed only the overall mediocrity of the continent clubs, except a few Brazilians and Boca... As a matter of fact, that such limited teams like the two Peruvians or Libertad are performing so well its somehow discouraging about both, Libertadores and our league...

But Gremio wants to win to be a higher seed. Remember that teams are positioned in the bracket depending in their group stage performances. The more points Gremio makes the easier their road to the final, at least on paper.

Aurora is by far the worst team of this years Libertadores. Not only have they lost every game, they have scored only twice and they have allowed 13 in . Even if they play their best game, U. Chile chances to win in Bolivia are, IMHO as good as Chico's chances to tie or win in Brazil. If la U. wins by 3 goals difference or more (which is not far-fetched, since they have lost 3-0 three times), a draw in Brazil will not be enough for Chico.

I agree with crazed, vamos de culo pa'l estanco. If we don't get things fixed quickly, next WCQ we will be fighting for the 7th spot with Venezuela, Peru and Bolivia.

Bielsa got an offer from our fedaration, took a look at everything, didn't like it, moved to the next offer, which happened to be better suited for him.

It's been 25 years crazy. 1984 was the last time that there was no colombian teams past the group stage.

    Links?
As far as most people were concerned, I recall that Pekerman was a solid candidate for your guys' bench. I also heard that there was interest in Bielsa but that's different than getting an actual offer.

In terms of the money, a lot of people (here) claim that he turned it down due to a measly couple thousand dollars. Now, I highly doubt Bielsa is the kind of guy that turns down a job proposition over US $20-30k (and most people here said the difference was even less).

I recall hearing it en El Pulso, do not have a link. But I do not mean that we lost Bielsa. He came, saw what we have, did not like it. If Chile was coveting him, before, after or at the same time it is not clear to me. And for sure, I agree with you, It was not only about the money, was about what he felt he could achieve with either team plus the money.

Metro, I see you in the Colombian forum so often, that I forget that you are, well Chilean... Like your name is not MetroCHILE :D

El Pulso del futbol, is a Colombian daily radio show with probably the two people who know the most about Colombian football....

The worst thing is that Chico, in their first Libertadores tournament, achieved more points then veteran teams like America or DIM. This is how our football looks like at the moment, internationally level. No doubt that Luis Bedoya and his friends can teach how to make good & talented NT into a joke. IN my opinion, we are way more talented on paper then Paraguay or Chile BUT they showed us that we can't rely only on this fact...We need to play as a team with a decent coach and since we have talneted young players, someone needs to learn them to give everything also for Colombia and not just in their clubs abroad.

As I said in Millonarios thread, maybe all this things happening altogether are good for us in the long run, because when you have a deep crisis you are more likely to take extreme measures, that would not even be considered in a less critical situation.

With our NT almost eliminated from WC2010 and the poor performance of our clubs, the questionable refereeing in FPC and the crappy level of play in the same, the only thing that we are missing to have a perfect storm is that the U-17 team fails to advance to the WC (as the U-20 failed too).

Maybe the ostriches will finally dig out their heads from their holes in the ground and some serious program can be implemented in order to build a better football infrastructure and a more coherent agenda for the next decade.
