He's always been a good jump shooter, and he can just shoot over that Turk with ease. McHale is also getting exposed this series. They might still win it (I hope not, I picked the Blazers), but the guy does no coaching. No defensive adjustments and no defensive intensity. The most basic offense imaginable. They've been winning on talent all season long. Imagine what Phil Jackson would do with that team.
Sure, it doesn't help to have the worst defender in the NBA playing for you, but you can still implement better schemes, give the offense different looks, implement various pressure defenses, double team the post in different ways, and rotate on defense. The Rockets give you the same defensive look on every possession. Offensively, they almost never run any elaborate plays. Someone asked McHale recently why his playbook isn't elaborate, and he said that running actual plays helps the defense because they know what's coming, which is one of the stupidest things a basketball coach can say. Instead, they just let the players figure it out as they go, which usually means pick and rolls and Harden dribbling for 20 seconds. If he didn't have such a talented team, he would have been gone a long time ago.
What's interesting is that his teammate Larry Bird was similarly inept at coaching. He did have some success "coaching" the Pacers, but everybody knew that his assistants did most of the work. He was the figurehead, but did little coaching.
who's watching this game? when did Blake Griffin turn into the best low post player in the league , he literally cannot be stopped , loving his game as well as LA's game , A Clippers vs Blazers west conferance final would be EPIC , LA vs BG
When CP3 was injured. He realized he needed to dig deep and become a better all around player. Quickly doing exactly that.
Yeah, one measly title primarily because you guys were allowed to murder us on defense and because freaking Leon Powe had more freethrows than the entire Laker team in Game 2! Leon Powe! (Yes, we had a monumental collapse in Game 4, but that's besides the point) Oh, how I loved revenge a couple years later. That Game 7.
clippers/celtic ultimate team with doc as coach would be PG Paul SG Allen SF: Pierce PF: Griffin C: Jordan ( only because KG was way too old)
