Well, the biggest event in the world that includes any sport you can think of is right around the corner. It begins on July 27 and it ends on August 12. Our country has not really had good history at the Olympics since our independence from Yugoslavia, but things might change this year. Here is the list of our confirmed competitors so far:

    MEN Representatives

Amel Mekić - Judo ... in +100 category (our best shot of getting our first ever medal at the Olympics)

    Hamza Alić - Shotput

Ensar Hajder - Swimming ... in the 200 m individual medley

    WOMAN Representative

    Lucia Kimani - Marathon

We also have a spot in the Shooting event, but no participant has been confirmed yet. This is a very short list of people, by 2020 or so, I expect to see at least 15-20 competitors, not including something like basketball or football (if we ever get a spot in one of those).

Discuss all news, events, etc. that take place at the 2012 Summer Olympics here.

Mekić got gold at the 2011 European Judo Championships. He has also gotten bronze two times in his career, once at the Mediterranean Games and another time at the Universiade. He also finished 5th at the 2007 Judo World Championships. Also, at Beijing 2008, he was our flag bearer.

He won from the best Judoka here in Holland, Henk Grol, by an ippon (instant KO). And trust me, judo is a BIG sport here.

lol are those really the only competitors we have?

And one of them isn't even born Bosnian. How absolutely pathetic.

I could care less about the Olympics though.

Yeah, only four competitors. And Lucia Kimani was married to a Bosnian and is now a natural citizen from living here.

lol what's wrong with our athletics? Anyone know? We're one of the worst in the world. Montenegro has more representatives in the Olympics than us and their population is less than a million. Pathetic.

I'd rather focus on economy to be honest. I'm just happy Bosnia exists because hearing stories about the war, we are lucky Bosnia exists today.

Truth. It's hard to have athletes develop out of that sh!t hole after a war that took that many lives. Bosnia got the worst of it, and I would gladly give up all their sports just so people could have a chance to get a job. 50% + unemployment is nothing to fnck around with.

Regardless, hope these people do well. I have no interest in the Olympics, but then again, I wish them well.

Nah, I'd rather have a good national team and shit than for our people having jobs.

That's pathetic. What Bosnia needs is a good economy. I think atleast the half of the population could give two shots about a good NT.

Nice! Congratulations! What about winter sports? Sarajevo hosted the Winter Games in the 80's.

Yeah, we pretty much suck at those, which is actually weird when you consider the fact that it snows every year in BiH.

    Hamza Alic is removed...

And Ivana Ninkovic, Nedzad Fazlija, and Kemal Mesic are all added to the list? Thanks in advance.
