If he thought the pace of life was too fast, he should have gotten in a car and sat in traffic going nowhere for a while, like the rest of us.
Southerns ain't in no rush to avoid the pleasantries of fulfilling an order. You say hello, chit-chat. That was the 1st thing I realized when I got here, "Oh you want to have a conversation here?"
My parents were raised to put a hand up and wave at every car that passed their house even if they knew those people (like the man who ran the corner store up the road) were in the Klan and were responsible for burning crosses feet away from the house in their front yard. Even now, if I see a car coming down the road I stop whatever I'm doing to wave. Good neighbors know to at least wave back.
Heh. I have that midwestern "smile and nod at everyone" ethic ingrained in me from my parents too. People here tend to say, "You're always so happy and friendly!"
HaHa! I've been in Richmond now since June and I was shocked at first how people would always wave and stop by to chat. It took me a bit to realize they were geniunely welcoming and didn't want anything but a wave and chat in return! Only took about two months to knock my hard earned PG CO suspicion of everything onto the back burner of my consciousness. It's still there, but I need to be wary a lot less around these parts!
If I may return to Boskovic for a moment, I see that he picked up a red card in the 29th minute of today's match against Austria Wien. A blame it all on Benny - he spent two years telling Bosko to play with more grit to succeed in MLS, and now he is playing with too much grit for the Austrian Bundesliga.
In case anyone cares, it was two yellows, not a straight red. 1st yellow at 17:15 2nd yellow/red at 28:48
and after each yellow he probably said "but I was tackled exactly like that on every possession in MLS and no one even called a foul"
And to think Benny thought Bosko didn't like physical contact! Now he's playing Benny Ball in Austria and getting booked for his troubles. (Damn, I wish he were still here.)
I agree. The second one looked potentially violent because he was coming at speed, but his studs were down and he seemed to get all ball. A no-call IMHO.
