This thread will be for our search for the perfect song for our "Anthem"...our "You'll never walk alone"........ Post other songs in the NYC songbook please.
In my opinion it would have to be Frank Sintatra "New York,New York." You cant get any better then that.
This might be an interesting one.. a lil moe uptempo and with a band haha I dont know how to post a youtube video so here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLif73MUJs0
Thats a good tune but I feel that "NY,NY" is THE New York song. Many know the words and almost everyone knows the song.
you are right. but sometimes i think NY,NY is too main stream.. we need somethin a tad more original. But it is definately obvious NY,NY is the front runner
I know its played at Yank stadium(uck) but its a solid tune. But we should def search for other as well.
i think NY,NY is good. but the only problem i have with it, is that its used at Ranger, Yankees, and Mets games (maybe Knicks? haha haven't been to a game since i was 8). So i feel like maybe something more original would be good. but NY,NY is definitely a fitting tune.
I like the Sidewalks of NY Now this might not go well with some of you Celtic fans out there, but how about a version of the Billy Boys. [I remember the ESC had a version of this for the MetroStars] The Borough Boys Hullo, Hullo We are the Borough Boys Hullo, Hullo You'll know us by our noise Wherever we go We'll fear no foe in New York or Away For we are the Mighty Borough Boys
We should give it some time and then have the whole group vote on it.We can have say,5 entries, and vote on them. First round we knock out three and then we can vote on the best two, thoughts?
first, it's a rangers song, second, esc used it for redb.....sorry i just threw up in my mouth alittle bit.....
I like sidwalks of new york - we only need to sing just the first verse - not the whole song!!! I agree with Paul NY NY is our song and it will be in our song book #1 but i think we do need an anthem that is sung in abou 30 seconds, lyrics are easy and catchy. LIke a "Blowing Bubbles" or "Four Leaf Clover" (See Sons of Ben) Someone post the first to lyrics of Sidewalks of new york - I think that first verse is great and end it with SIDEWALKS OF NEW YORK - dont sing the East side West Side stuff
the lyrics are kinda wierd..but the tune is great.... we could just adjust the lyrics maybe. Anyone up for coming up with new lyrics? here is Mel Torme's version East Side, West Side, all around the town The kids sang "ring around rosie", "London Bridge is falling down" Boys and girls together, me and Mamie O'Rourke We tripped the light fantastic on the sidewalks of New York East Side, West Side, all around the town Sweet Mamie grew up and bough herself a sweet little Alice-blue gown All the fellas dug her, you should have heard them squark When I escorted Mamie round the sidewalks of New York East Side, West Side, riding through the parks We started swiging at Jilly's then we split to P.J.Clark's On to Chuck's Composite, then a drink at The Stork We won't get home until morning 'cause we're going to take a walk On the sidewalks of New York
there wasa verse before that one that sounded good - what was that? I think we should stick true to the lyrics of this song
I know it's a Rangers' song. Hence my warning to all Celtic fans. But I do remember seeing it on the ESC site before RB took over Yeah, I can see how saying "redbull" can cause that reaction.
Down in front of Casey's old brown wooden stoop On a summer's evening we formed a merry group Boys and girls together we would sing and waltz While Tony played the organ on the sidewalks of New York East Side, West Side, all around the town The tots sang "ring-around-rosie," "London Bridge is falling down" Boys and girls together, me and Mamie O'Rourke Tripped the light fantastic on the sidewalks of New York These are teh first two lyrics - we can sing one of them or both - i like the first lyrics - formed a merry group - ha ha - whadaya think
http://kids.niehs.nih.gov/lyrics/sidewalk.htm and here is a good site for the tune and to follow along the lyrics - thoughts?
