What do you expect when you come into a BOCA thread talking bad about most (some) of ours favorite player (Roman). I don't see much of us going to the Nacional B thread and disrupt whatever kind of riBer commentary you guys have. Is it because we are in the Copa Libertadores this year and you guys aren't? (No Sarcasm/foul-intent)

Maybe if you're lucky someday a player from River will have a Copa Libertadores performance half as good as the one Riquelme had on an "underwhelming" night like last night. :D

That last play, starting with Mouche stealing the ball, reminded me of the Riquelme-Palacio-Palermo combinations. Good old days!

Relax dude, just because it's the Boca thread doesn't mean others aren't welcome to add constructive posts. Steazy is a good poster and I know he's only here to talk about the game, not cause any trouble.

Besides, I don't see anything in his post that is "disrupting" commentary: quite the opposite, it's actually adding conversation to the thread.. You guys are more than welcome to come to the River forums and add your (neutral) two cents after our matches as well.

isnt the point of a sports forum and sports discussion as a whole to disagree sometimes? If I think that JRR Tolkein (yes Im sticking with that name) had alot of dud possessions of the ball between some well played balls is that really worth all this? I cant believe some people would get this salty over a slight criticizm of one players one performance in one game. A game that was won at that.

On a game related note, why were they giving him so much space early on? That was the only thing UE did that had me wondering, well besides the whole losing thing. But all in all they came out with good game plan and almost executed it perfectly.

Nothing wrong with that, I'm a big fan of both. Riquelme is to playmaking what Tolkien is to fantasy literature.

I wasn't bashing on anyone I was just saying that people should expect to not receive an open invitation of criticism in the rival team's thread. Simple as that. I never said he shouldn't post

I was actually thinking the same thing. Chile has a couple Germans too!

Had you elaborated on why you thought he was underwhelming in your initial post I think it stands to reason that we wouldn't have gone down the road we did. Has he played infinitely better than against UE? For sure but when you take in to account that he was the sole reason Boca won it is kind of misleading to say he was underwhelming.

As to why they were giving him so much space early on, my thoughts are that they didn't want to get themselves in to foul trouble early. Once they started closing in on him the fouling started and ultimately it created dangerous set piece opportunities. UE probably played us better than anyone else over the last year and that includes the matches we lost. I think the return leg is going to be a grudge match and definitely not easy.

Close but not quite the same. The bird on the crest is the Andean Condor which iirc is the official bird of Chile.

To be honest, I thought you guys were a bit aggressive with the gallina. Underwhelming is a relative term. I think it just speaks to the level of expectations and the high standards to which he holds Roman. So I took it as as a great compliment. We'll all agree that it was not a special kind of performance by Roman. In that regard, I didn't take it as a jab at him that McCloud was underwhelmed.

BTW Moishe, notice anything weird about our respective avatars?
