The intent of this thread is to discuss Barcelona players (and even former players) when they are on international duty playing for their countries.

With the World Cup set to kick off roughly a month from now, the qualified nations are releasing their initial 30-player squads. These will be reduced to the mandatory 23-man squads by June 1st.

Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque is set to officially announce his 30-man squad on Tuesday.
The full list has already been posted on the RFEF website.
Barcelona players on the list include:
    Valdés
    Piqué
    Puyol
    Busquets
    Iniesta
    Xavi
    Pedro

So it looks like those that we had hoped for (Valdes, Pedro) were rewarded for the great season they have had. Just a matter now of whether they will survive the cut down to 23.
Fabregas and Capdevila are two other Catalans also named in the list.

Any other countries put out their list that include Barcelona players?
We can even discuss former players like the two Gios (Van Bronckhort and Dos Santos), Eto'o, Van Bommel, etc.

    :)

Wasn't Pepe Reina a Barca player , didn't he play with Pique in the juniors ?

Also note that Bojan didn't make the squad list . Maybe die to the sitters he has missed in recent games . The one at the weekend and the late header he missed against Inter !!!

He's pretty much destined to be one of the seven cuts isn't he...

Don't you think he would rather cut López/De Gea?

He will drop VV pretty much saying he is overqualified to be a third keeper and he will take Madrid Canterano Diego Lopez or future Starter it seems in De Gea.

Sucks for VV that he is Catalan tbh.

Gabi Milito didn't make the Argentina 30-man squad. Also, no Gago, Banega, Cambiasso, Zanetti. Lots of Argentina based players (Martin Palermo....really, Diego Maradona?).

    Messi will obviously be there.

I'm really intrigued by the Spain selections. Seems like Pedro has a real shot over players like Juan Mata, Negredo and Santi Cazorla who've all had worse years than him. Also, Jesus Navas has all the talent but psychological issues about leaving home.

When Maradona took the job, I thought, "well, he might not have a clue about tactics, but at least he'll have the players to make him look good." He looks to have found a way to screw that up too. Feel bad for Messi.

Does Maradona have some mental issues? I swear he has to be a little screwed up in the head to not include Gabi in the squad....and even Banega has been playing good this season

The Argentina team is increbly strong up top, but very weak defensively. El Diego should've called up Gabi Milito and Banega/Cambiasso.

Is there anyone who follows any league who rates Coloccini highly? That's the one that I can't even fathom what he brings to the table.

    VV vas al mundial!!!

Besides our players, I am so glad to see Javi Martinez and Fernando Llorente. Great season they had, and fully deserved a spot.

If you ever go to the Argetnina board you will know that Coloccini (or Coco the Clown as I prefer to call him) is one of my bug bears. I can't see what he has ever done at either club or international level, but somehow he managed to always get picked by different Argentina NT coahces. At least he got cut from the final 23. To be fair to Jonas, at least he has played well for the NT, I was never a big fan but he has won me round with his performances.

Well done to Valdes, a couple of years ago, like many, I regarded him as a joke, but he has improved beyond recognition in the last couple of season so he merits his call up. I support Argentina but have to admit that Spain's squad if frightening in terms of its strength and quality.

and cambiasso, and zanetti and so on. People will say "messi flop" or something along those lines but seriously, how can you blame any of the arg players for playing badly when maradona is in charge.

If you did not watch the behind the scene of this commercial, Cristiano missed the Freekick so they had to cut the commercial close, as they only had one shot in the stadium, because money has not been coming in for Nike boots. Everybody in the boots department blames Messi.

So then the numbers of jersey sales came in. They were through the roof, and many wondered why? The Spanish team Nike sponsors won their league, and everybody went wild buying jerseys. The Shirt department blamed Messi.

The same as everyone else in that video... acting. Iniesta, Cesc and Pique showing frustration over an English player, let alone it being Wayne Rooney, was the dead giveaway.
And terrible acting it was. I blame Messi.
