Pascal Affolter made according to some media and fans a good impression in the training sessions and compete with Silvestre for one of the CB spots, that would be a fast debut. Florian Hartherz also made a good impression in training and could replace the booked Schmitz. In midfield Hunt is still injured and I read, that in the attack Arnautovic is also out (but there is a chance that he is fit for the match). Yah, all the feeds are down now and it stayed 1-1. Good spiel except, as you say, the first 30 min after the break. Funny while a playmaker (or just plain offensive threat) like Marin is unable to play that Wesley didn't get more game. Obviously, the Eksfactor was being shut down right after the half and the 2nd goal demoralized everyone. Still the coaches will see what we see and keep E&W at odds fighting for the same job. I wish B'frede had the same issue, he just plain sucks with 68 games under his belt. I'm not in any hurry for Hunts return because the left wing showed surprising potential today, and centrally is he any better than Eks or Wesley? As a sidenote I'm wondering if Rustynation saw the game that Fritz wore the Captain's armband. Good on em' and what a shame one set piece spoiled an interesting game.
Boenisch played today for the reserve to get match practice, but Schaaf should continue to give Florian Hartherz playing time. That guy has talent and should make Schmitz some pressure.
Agreed, I thought both Florian Hartherz and our new Swiss boy did a great job today. ....why on earth did Wesley grow his hair out like Carlos Alberto? That can't be a good sign for TS and KA
You and I are of one mind. I would love to see Ignjovski push him out of the lineup, but that won't happen since Iggy apparently plays every position depending on who is available. I was similarly impressed with Hatherz and Affolter. Great debuts for both of them!
Next weekend Bargfrede has to miss the Freiburg match, because of his 5th yellow card. I like how Iggy plays as well, but currently we miss to many players based on cards and injuries. It is hard to get a team working under such circumstances, but today the young and new players integrated well.
Certainly played a better attacking game against Leverkusen than we had in the the past few games. There was better movement that me glimpess of a few years ago. Was hoping for two more points to separate them a bit more. But I think as affolter and hatherz integrate the attack will become more potent
