2-0 Schalke so far, although the second goal definitely looked to be offside. Proedl is looking poor as one might expect at RB. Schalke is marking him very loosely and waiting for Bremen to cycle the ball to him so that he can turn it over.

Anyone know wait Schaaf's problem with Wesley is? He'd be a much better pick at RB, or even better, move Fritz back to RB and play Wesley in the midfield.

The defense is getting shredded like cheese here. Only two great saves from Wiese have kept this game at 2-0.

Well, on the road against Schalke is not exactly an easy matchup. 3-0 Schalke now, and it's been all crosses from Fuchs finding intelligent runs from Raul.

I'm not so sure that our roster needs much of an upgrade, except perhaps a decent CF that can replace Pizarro if he leaves or gets injured.

What's really mind-boggling to me is Schaaf's usage of players. I'm not too sure why Fritz has been permanently moved to midfield, resulting in us playing 3 players out of position at side back at various times (Sokratis, Ignjovski, and today Proedl).

I'm not sure why Wesley, being probably the only guy in the midfield last year who contributed anything offensively, only sees playing time at the tail end of blowouts.

I'm not too worried about this result though, against a good team on the road with a crippled roster.

Shameful performance. The players should get no christmas holidays and Schaaf needs to be fired.

our roster is good in my opinion, but I would be worried because we have lost spectacularly to nearly all the top sides in the league. I appreciate Allofs with his summer signings but my god, Schaaf is so stuck in the past tactically whilst all our direct competitors have moved on.

I believe we will attain a Europa League spot in the end, but I get pissed everytime seeing players out of position, Wagner on the pitch and ridiculous blowouts like this. If Bremen wants to move out of mediocrity, Thomas needs to leave

The squad must be better used. There is potential in it. But the system Werder currently plays does not fit to the players. Wesley is a good CM, but this position does not exist in the system and as a DM or half position player (don't know the English word, so direct translation) he could not show his strengths so far. Thus the player must either learn (and be taught by Schaaf) to play at the other positions or the squad management must be criticized.
And there must be plan B, when some players are out. Yesterday Prödl played for Sokratis as RB, but that played totally into Scheißes cards. Neither Fritz nor Prödl did any offensive pressure on Fuchs, who is a good offensive LB, but sucks at defense like Boenisch. But if you don't make pressure on him he can use his potential. Same with the defense midfield. The performance was horrible, too many balls got lost and Schalke came to the goals too easily. :(
