I'm still hoping for the "humiliation factor" of keeping him around while showing him what he should have been doing.
Isn't Fat Fred involved with the construction that will be going on around SJP? If so, it's probably a good idea to keep him around, as long as he's not involved with the squad aspect of the club. Thx, Jay!
The story I posted in the transfer thread about the 50m quid war chest hinted that FFS is only around for transition's sake, and will probably be out after three months or so.
Newcastle exits from stock market I guess I should be glad that I never bought one of those framed shares.
The wife bought me the framed share last year for my bday, I'm sure it's not worth the postage. Got my paperwork yesterday in the mail for how I was allowed to try and buy the team myself or sue on one page. (that's the jist I got out of the legal jargon) And then another page saying since I wasn't a Euro I don't get those options and that I have to send the thing back to get the $$ within 6 weeks.
Chris Mort officially took over the chairman's role, with Freddy Shepherd resigning from the club...and there was much rejoicing.
Shepherd: Betrayed by my friends Thankfully Shepherd was sick or we could've been stuck with him for much longer. I think he is going through publicity withdrawals because not only he is complaining about the takeover, he is still talking shit about Owen.
Supposedly Big Sam is pissed that only 10 million GBP has only been made available for additional transfers and new salaries.
I think it's a smokescreen by the club to give the impression we've got a small budget and give us more negotiating power.
I could see that. We have such a long history of overpaying for players, I think many clubs think they can hold us hostage for higher fees.
<sarcasm> wow can you buy a factory in china so I can negotiate with you? I wish it was true as well but maybe, just maybe, the desperate tactic of playing hard-to-get will get us a "fire sale" value in the last few days of the transfer window. Its a sellers market now, but maybe as the window closes it'll turn...
You've got to love it when the owner gets it and wants to give back to the fans. Buying everyone in the place a round was a great gesture. I also noticed on the club website that everyone who gets to the match on Saturday before 2pm gets a free pint or soft drink - they may have been doing that for years, I don't know, but it still shows the kind of gratitude to fans that too few professional teams seem to have these days. Cheers!
I love the guy more and more each day. He'd almost be on par with God if he bought Deco and a right back. >.>
