So, we will host the 2013 Junior Handball World Championship. The tournament will take place on July 14-28. The teams will be -

I thought this deserved its' own thread because A) we are hosting it and B) this our first World Championship of any sport or any level.

In a recent friendly, we beat Croatia 32-29. This is a big win as Croatia are medal favorites. We also had some good friendlies against Siroki Brijeg and Slovenia. the team has the talent to go pretty far in this tournament, considering we have home field. Hopefully the BHFanaticos will show up.

The tournament begins July 14th. Our first match is against South Korea. I think we can beat Argentina, South Korea, and Congo. A win against Slovenia and/or Hungary would be nice, but three should be enough for the Round of 16. It definitely couldn't hurt to win four or five, though, as then we'd get an easier Round of 16 match up.

Yeah sure thing! I hope we go to at least Round of 16, realistically we could even make it to the quarterfinals.

 

We are playing South Korea and it is 15-15 at half time. Our defense is real good as is our fast break. Hopefully we get the win, as South Korea is pretty strong and it'd be a good result to kickstart our tournament.

 

We have the lead 24-23 with nine minutes left, c'mon boys just finish strong!

 

26-26 with a minute left, South koreans with possesion. A good defensive block/save and we have a good opportunity on the other end to score and win. Volim te Bosno!

 

FT - 26-26 - draw

Good result to open the tournament. We were the better team but luck didn't go our way with 6-7 clear-cut chances being missed but nonetheless, good opening match. We also had three chances in the last 30 seconds, one missed but rebounded then hit the post, rebounded went in but it was a second too late as the clock hit 60:00.

 

I watched the second half and the link was too choppy but it was a pretty good game in my opinion. Shame that we didn't win but it's a good opening result as you said.

When's our next game and who is it against, Diamond? I noticed that Slovenia beat Hungary narrowly today.

 

Our next game is against Hungary.

It's important to get at least 4 point from our first three matches. the three toughest opponents are our first three on the schedule. We drew South Korea today, we then have Hungary, and then Slovenia. After that, Argentina and Congo are pretty much guaranteed wins. We are already into the R16 on paper as top four qualify, and we have Argentina and Congo in the bag, but we need to get higher than the fourth seed if we want to realistically have a chance of making it to the quarterfinals.

 

Btw, if you have BHT1 our games will always be on there.
