    more questions:
How many rounds? Or does it go until one of your picks kills you?
Is somebody going to be a proxy?
Photograph - so we are limited to people in the last 200 years? :p

Ok. Here is my first pick:

    Ooops! Wrong draft. Sorry. :D

    Let me try again.

ADOLPH HITLER, Born in Austria but played for Germany (1889-1945)

It's predictable, but I couldn't pick anybody else with the top pick. A despicable tyrant who used racism as a justification to murder and torture millions and is also mainly responsible for WWII. I think everybody knows about him. Here is what wiki has to say about him:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adolf_Hitler

    Nice has been PM'd

ASF is cheating. He will probably now declare himself the winner and close the thread using Godwin's law.

Well, I didn't ask for the first pick. I think now I can pick 9 chaste nuns who are risking their lives by helping ebola patients in Africa and still win. You're all playing for 2nd place.

    :D

I'll take your tyrant, and raise you

Oh, I disagree. I think the second pick is just as predictable, and I would have made him my first pick (I think that guy was worse!)

I have a suggestion, to make this more interesting.

Should we make a rule that we have to pick at least one tyrant who is still in power now?

    What do you guys think?

Not a bad idea, but it still depends on how many rounds we are going

The nuns would get you the Hitchens vote.

Don't be so sure, though. I'll bet that Nicephoras will be the only one with good choices beyond the third round, albeit ones that nobody has ever heard of.

Yeah, Nice's picks should be interesting, and I want to hear his analysis of everybody elses picks, as he has a very good knowledge of history. I PMd him, but he had mentioned that he was going on a trip to Egypt, so hopefully he got my PM.

What I'm really looking forward to are ITN's picks. This should be fun.

At least I imagine the lions did not discriminate on the basis of race.

I didn't even realize there was a separate selection thread. Good thing I'm second to last.

    Question:

I pick after Dirt McGirt. We each have two hours. He went on the clock at 2:28 central. Do I have two hours after his two hours (i.e. 4:28 to 6:28), or two hours after he makes his pick?

I ask because I'll be online for about another half hour, then off for a couple hours while I go running. If I have until 6:30, I'll be able to pick. If not, I'm in trouble.

If you have to go off line, you can send me a PM and I'll post your pick. I'll be around for the next four hours. You may want to send an alternate choice, in case McGirt takes your first choice.

    He was 5'11?

Wow! He's no Yao Ming, but still pretty tall for a Chinese man of his era.

A great pickup at number 5, thanks to the no shows.

With the 5th overall pick of the first round, blackjack selects:

    Josef Stalin (USSR)
