As an Arsenal guy who has watched every game this season, the further we go the more convinced i am that Ozil should not be listed and Per should.
Jackson Martinez for Porto has been scoring a lot and Federico Fazio of Sevilla has been one of the best CB's in La liga.
I'm waiting to see how Bacca does with Sevilla in the Europaleague... He's been great in his first season in Spain
Thibaut COURTOIS Thiago SILVA Mehdi BENATIA Philipp LAHM Arjen ROBBEN Yaya TOURE Paul POGBA Cristiano RONALDO Leonel MESSI Luis SUAREZ Diego COSTA B team : Vincent ENYEAMA, Dani ALVES, Vincent KOMPANY, Gareth BALE, Andres INIESTA, Sergi BUSQUETS, Franck RIBERY, Eden HAZARD, Zlatan IBRAHIMOVIC, Gonzalo HIGUAIN, Robert LEWANDOWSKI notable mentions cut short by injuries : Aaron RAMSEY and Giuseppe ROSSI
Alves hasn't really been that great. Zabaleta is the best RB right now aside from Lahm if he plays there.
Some names to think about as the season winds down Striker Zaltan Ibrahimovic *** Diego Costa *** Daniel Sturridge ***/** Karim Benzema ***/** Sergio Aguero ** (He and a few others are tough calls with really brilliant but short seasons) Edin Dzeko ** Robert Lewandowski **/* Romelu Lukaku * Gonzalo Higuain * Ciro Immobile * Mario Mandzukic * Forward Luis Suarez *** Lionek Messi *** Cristiano Ronaldo *** Marco Reus ***/** Carlos Tevez ** Thomas Muller ** Max Kruse **/* Raffael **/* Carlos Vela **/* Wayne Rooney **/* Giuseppe Rossi * (See Aguero) Attacking Mid David Silva ***/** (See Aguero) Koke ***/** Miralem Pjanic ** Ivan Rakitic ** Angel Di Maria ** Andres Iniesta ** James Rodriguez ** Adam Lallana **/* Phillippe Coutinho **/* Roberto Firmino **/* Ross Barkley * Hernanes * Rodrigo Palacio * Marek Hamsik * Alessio Cerci * Raul Garcia * Cesc Fabregas * Henrikh Mkhitaryan * Toni Kroos * Winger Edin Hazard *** Gareth Bale *** Frack Ribery ** Raheem Sterling ** Cuadrado ** Alexis Sanchez ** Adrian Ramos **/* Antoine Griezmann **/* Samir Nasri * William * Arda Turan * Neymar * Arjen Robben * Sidney Sam * Central Mid Yaya Toure *** Luka Modric *** Steven Gerrard ***/** Gabi ***/** Fernandinho ** Aaron Ramsey ** (See Aguero) Paul Pogba ** Andrea Pirlo ** Arturo Vidal ** Phillipp Lahm ** (here or fullback) Jeremy Toulalan **/* Morgan Schneiderlin * James McCarthy * Nemanja Matic * Daniele de Rossi * Kevin Strooman * Ander * Lars Bender * Joao Moutinho * Marco Verratti * Blaise Matuidi * Thiago Motta * Fullback Filipe Luis ** Pablo Zabaleta ** Seamus Coleman ** David Alaba ** Daniel Carvajal **/* Leighton Baines **/* Ricardo Rodriguez **/* Serge Auirer **/* Branislav Ivanovic * Luke Shaw * Kwadwo Asamoah * Juanfran * Gregory Van der Wiel * Centerback Sergio Ramos *** Pepe ***/** Giorgio Chiellini ***/** Diego Godin ***/** Gary Cahill ** Miranda ** Laurent Koscielny ** Dejan Lovern ** Thiago Silva ** Vincent Kompany **/* Mehdi Benatia **/* Per Mertesacker * John Terry * Raul Albiol * Dante * Naldo * Loic Perrin *
it's so HILARIOUS Neymar *= Robben * << Bale *** ???? typical British media bluff Thiago Silva ** and Ramos (king of YC) *** ??? and even Pepe ***/** (another KING of YC) LOL Lahm ** for fullback (OK) and * for DM Aguero should be ***/** (for his 17goals+6ass/19games)
It 's a pretty good list James. Rodrigo Palacio is a forward not an attacking mid and Federico Fazio should be in the CB's.
Not sure whether Ribery was that much better than Robben. Just like past season, certainly not at UCL level.
Why is Tiago Silva placed quite low? Seems to me he's better than Cahill at least?? http://www.francefootball.fr/ligue-1/etoiles/ http://www.football.fr/football/ligue-1/notes.html
I have them equal at ** the order does not matter at the same level. I think Silva is a much better player but he has had a drop in form at the end of the year.
The problem is you have to rate a number of Bayern players well for what they have done in the Bundesliga, which they completely ran away with. Even though they were a disappointment in Europe if you compare them to last years team (they still made the semi-finals) they were still one of the best teams in the world, just not as good as last year. In my eyes Ribery was their best player in the first two thirds of the Bundesliga season when they blew away everyone.
You are looking to much at reputations and not enough at performance this year. You explain to me how this season Neymar and Robben have performed any where near Bale in europe or domestic leagues. Ramos and Pepe have been great in Real Madrids games against big teams coming down the stretch. Lahm was great at defensive midfielder at the beginning of the year. Bayern played their best football all season with him there at that was no accident in my opinion. I have wondered why Pep has not put him back there as he has clearly preformed better than Schwienstieger.
If Thiago Silva is there than several Ligue 1 players should also be on the list - equal or ahead of him: Marco Basa Simon Kjaer Papy Djilobodji Stopila Sunzu (albeit he only had half a season)
I have watched him in the CL this season and last and he has clearly not been as impressive this season in that competition. Ratings from whoscored back this up. I read a couple news stories about him suffering a drop in form around the time they went out to Chelsea but I can't find them. I think PSG as a whole kind of lost motivation after going out of the CL and having basically wrapped up Ligue 1 for a while. Maybe I have him a bit low because judging him against himself from last season (clearly the best defender in the world) is not fair or the same as comparing him to his contemporaries this season.
Do not tell me you only watched Bale in the last Copa Del Rey game? That's exactly misleading! 1- Neymar and Bale are both pretty much the same with the slight difference": Neymar shone brighter in first half and lately dropped in form (coincident to the WHOLE Barca team even Messi), in other hand Bale got brighter in last few months! There are NO CLEAR indication that Bale was superior then Neymar in any category - well ONLY if one look at his goals number??? If Bale is *** then Neymar is AT LEAST ***/** if not *** 2- Robben was not the same last year. agree. But again. iF Bale is *** then Robben is at least ** 3- what made Ramos and Pepe looked that great this season??? Real allowed same number of goals average, and they won NOTHING so far (well copa del Rey = great???)
He was (injured) but also was KEY to win UCL 2013 for Bayern Bale scored 7.76 and Neymar scored 7,54 (if strictly by STATS - according to whoscored rating) Bale was 2nd best for Real and Neymar was 2nd best for Barca ! NO real difference, or may be by a hair line - if one prefer this to that ... OK? They both were out of liga and UCL title race ... BTW ... big deal
