It's also possible that he has gotten better since then. It's not uncommon for young players to improve as they gain experience.
IIRC Nguyen had a shoulder issue in Denmark (and apparently has had one ever since). Someone who follows him more closely could tell us when he first hurt his shoulder, but I remember successive injuries and rehab stints. http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/1110...uyen-out-for-season-after-undergoing-shoulder {September 24, 2012}
If a young player is not able to improve tactically in a Dutch and Danish youth development program, then I consider them a lost cause... at least in a European context... though he may have the speed to make it outside Europe and in MLS. .
After strong performance, Sporting Kansas City's Benny Feilhaber is "feeling more comfortable with the system" http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...ng-kansas-citys-benny-feilhaber-feeling-more-
Nice to see Benny settling in and finding a home. Success can be as much about the situation as about the player.
We really need him to come good and have more consistent performances. We could absolutely use him in our 23 as one of the more creative players we trot out. Ecstatic about his performance today. Keep it up Benny!
yup, fantastic news if he can keep this up. he looked a little lethargic until this game, most likely a chemistry issue but it seems to be coming together now.
Benny is a weak, unmotivated, flopper. He is the kind of player who only gives his all when everything is going right, but he doesn't have the balls to battle through the tough times. If you are looking for him to put a team on his back and lead, that is not him. He was a complete waste of space in New England riding his 2010 World Cup to a DP salary. He is a delicate flower who will wilt soon enough.
It doesn't matter even if true. The US doesn't need Benny to carry the team. His ideal role with the full team will be the same as last term, coming off the bench and injecting instant offense into the game.
More than happy to see if he can change this perception this year at SKC. If he can't change it there, lost cause.
yup, i think both bennys supporters and detractors can come to an agreement that if it doesnt work here it wont at all. Hes been thrown in a situation where its in his hands, hopefully he continues to turn the corner
