His skill-set is based on making others around him better but if you don't make the reads, runs, or anything with logic moves, how can you expect Adu to help you?
That is a cop out for Adu sucking 90% of the time. If it were true, then how do you explain the 10% of the time he actually does play well? Magically, he makes the players on the field around him smarter, too?
Benny didn't start last Saturday again. Sitting in favor of Guy and Rowe. But now Guy is off to play for Guam in WC qualies and Nguyen is out for the season with an injury. So, perhaps Heaps starts him next game? Either way I still look for him to leave NE.
man i still remember him during the spain game where he came in and helped set up one of our goals.. what happened to him??
Rowe, Nguyen, Toja, Guy. Overcrowded midfield? Might be best for him to move somewhere else. This isn't to say he doesn't share some blame, perhaps poor in training, not performing etc. Pure speculation though.
I have to agree to some extend... You cant really argue about his skills and ability, but the main reason why Feilhaber did not get his contract renewed at AGF Aarhus was because he was not scoring goals and because he perhaps had become a bit too "laid-back"... AGF signed a new head coach when they suffered relegation, a coach who instantly bench key players, if he believe they do not work hard enough at training... and though he did not really bench Feilhaber before he knew that he was leaving the club for sure, there was a feeling that the coach perhaps was not all too happy about the "laid-back" attitude. ... I remember writing this in one of my last reports about Feilhaber, shortly before he was sold to MLS : So Feilhaber was trying to find a new club and MLS seemed to be the only option at that point in time. But knowing that Feilhaber absolutely hate playing on artificial turf, I suspect that he was a bit disappointed by ending up where he did... and this disappointment may now have grown to an extend where he has trouble motivating himself. .
I'm btw highly surprised that Nguyen seem to be a success in MLS ?... he really struggled in the Superliga, just at is was the case in Holland.... I remember that the Randers coach gave him the chance to play the full 90 minutes in 4 games in a row, but after that he just faded away, getting less and less minutes on the pitch... so very far from the level of Feilhaber, who was selected for the 'Team of the week' several times. .
Yeah Nguyen has revived his career in MLS. Feilhaber seems to have done the opposite, which sucks. Feilhaber was a great super sub for the USMNT under Bob Bradley. I don't think he'll be with the New England Revolution next season.
Well He was having a good career in Vietnam if I remember correctly; he just stepped up the level of the competition.
Benny was just released by the Revs. Was only in the league a year so he cant participate in the re-entry draft. someones going to have to trade for him. I see him being off loaded for the bare minimum to another team, like a comp. pick like was done with Bobby Convey. Teams interested i could see are San Jose, Chivas USA, Portland, Colorado, and LA Galaxy looking for a player like that.
Not LA. Becks is leaving but they will replace him with either Kaka or Lampard most likely. They need 3 DPs at all times.
I feel like Benny would be right at home with the San Jose Earthquakes. I don't really know why. The whole attitude behind that club just seems perfect for him. There is the problem that they had a pretty good year up until they faced the Galaxy in the playoffs, so you don't want to mess with the team too much. Still, I feel like he could find his place in the squad...
yeah, especially since Baca forgot how to play soccer all of October and the postseason. Bad time to fall from form. we got the cap room to play the game, it remains to be seen if we do. I bring him in like SKC and tell him, "hey, if you come in here with a good attitude and work hard and give your all, we'd love to help you. But we have the talent to keep you firmly planted on the bench if you act up and give you the Convey treatment if you dont" He may not even come back to MLS. You know who would be fun to see take him in? Tijuana. Id like to see that show.
He's too damn good not to play somewhere, but he's not good enough to play in a first division side without having a professional attitude and applying himself.
"Feilhaber endured a disappointing 2012 season with the Revs, finishing with one goal and two assists in 29 matches. What’s next for the 27-year-old playmaker?" This entire Ives section had be laughing for so long. The playmakers...two assists in 29 matches....the playmaker....two assists in 29 matches....the playmaker.... I am stunned that you could even report a fabrication so unholy as this. Freddy Adu had 5 goals and 1 assists in 24 matches. is he the playmaker too!!! seriously Ives?
Meh, you're talking about two players who have failed to make any real sort of impact with their teammates repeatedly. Not merely this team or that. Not once, not twice, not three or four times. It is their faults.
This is the thing with Feilhaber. His only good season in club football was in the Danish 2nd division. Everywhere else he's been disappointing, and people find excuse after excuse after excuse for him. Time for people to re-think their evaluation of this player.............................. We're not talking about a 22-23 year old like Freddy Adu here. Benny Feilhaber will be 28 soon, and the next generation of American prospects has passed him by. He's two years older than Eddie Gaven for Christ's sake.
I dont think Feilhaber will stay in MLS. I am hoping he can have a trial in Mexico or somewhere like that. He'd do well there.
