Hello..I'm an everton fan. Going back about 4 years or so (you had played away vs Celtic, early November 2007) I met a big crowd of Benfica fans in Stanstead airport.

Fantastic bunch of lads and had a couple of photos taken with our benfica/Everton flags.

I'm trying to locate them!! Have any of you got an idea where I can find any photos? Like, it there a fan website were these can be uploaded?

    Thanks in advance.

PS- sell us Cardozo on the cheap!!

How many Portuguese players in Benfica's normal starting line-up?

I am just curious as I don't get to read much on Benfica's youth system.

Not many bud:( Our youth system was neglected for many years but we now have some really promising youth players coming up. Hopefully Benfica will actually give them the same opportunity to play as is give to the S. American players.......

Its true. There was a while when we would feature ~5 players in the lineup. But since our championship it has gone down. These days were lucky if we get 2 Portuguese players in the starting XI.

But like Eurodad said we have some talent coming into the fold these days. The most notable players are Roderick Miranda, 6'4 CB, Miguel Victor another CB, Nelo 6'2 U20 striker (Nelson Oliviera).

That is good that they might slowly start to bring them back into the club through the youth ranks rather than relying solely on south americans.

Nelson Oliveira is the main surprise of the season. He needs to be more patient and mature, but here's finally a Portuguese youth striker Benfica (and Portugal) long time wanted.

Possible name in the Portuguese squad for the Euro Championship.

Nelson and Rodrigo emberged nicely this season, both racking up interested all over Europe.

Nelson is undoubtably on the squad for Euro, but I want him a starter, not a bench warmer. Let's keep this kid a starter on Benfica, he's started the past 2 games in a row. Works well with Cardozo, let's hope JJ keeps his relying on the kid so Paulo Bento can't say no to the kid.

Ola John: "Benfica is bigger than all of the Holland teams combined".
Big statement coming a Dutch player that played for Twente.

Europe has forgotten how big Benfica was, is, and how many people support this team throughout the world. We're not in the Guinness Book of World Records for nothing.

As the Portuguese saying goes: " Benfica didn't have a childhood, it was born big"

Not sure where to post this so figured here would be most appropriate. I read today Bernardo Silva signed till 2019 with 30 milhoes boc. and Helder has hinted to Jesus he is ready for the first team. I was hoping Helder Costa would have been given a chance while salvio is out its a bit disappointing. After watching Benfica vs Arouca i couldn't help but laugh that Cortez started that game but Cancelo and Gianni who imo are far better players haven't been given a chance. There a few more players on the b team ready to come up even as bench options. LFV has said after 14/15 season benfica shouldn't have to buy/sell players as much as they have in the past and as a Portugal and benfica fan I can't wait for this to happen.

Oferta de 7 milhões de euros por Morata

    Por Redação
    A- A A+

If Madrid didn't want to let Morata go on loan to Arsenal, I doubt they'd let us sign him: seems like Ancelotti rates him for the future.

    Hi guys.

I'm having this arguement with a user who says Filip Djuricic is nothing special while i'm convinced he's pretty good but he won't acknowledge this.

Furthermore he was talking about how not being good enough to start or play for Benfica is a tad bit embarrassing..and how the Portugese league itself isn't very good.

I thought i could go on and one trying to convince him otherwise but that wouldn't help.

So what are your guys thoughts on this?

Haha, you tagged me in a Benfica forum. I would like to say that Benfica will sign any player with a Baltic name, preferably Serbian despite their talent level although they have been having luck.

Portuguese league is crap aside from Porto and Benfica racking up points in the Europa league.

Djuricic is fine player. Hes very technical and makes good decisions attacking. However, he sucks at trackin back and gets bodied too easily off the ball due to his frame. He's not nearly as good as markovic who is a stud or Andre Gomes whom a rate highly but he's portuguese so Benfica doesn't.
