I still think they should have been allowed to go at it.

He would have to be "allocated" and/or "traded" to Bayer Leverkusen for 6 weeks before he can ever come to San Jose.

As was pointed out earlier in this thread, he's set foot in Buck Shaw once. That's normally enough for most people...

If you sign Pepe and/or Marcelo, too, I may hate your club more than I ever did, even more than when they were putting up baker's dozens on the scoreboard against the Rapids.

At the same time, it would be kinda great if you guys have more Real players than RSL.

I'm not looking forward to all the jokes about his name.

Haha! This is exactly what Luciano Moggi (Juventus GM convicted of sports fraud) said back in 03 when he initially signed for Milan instead of Juve.

    Interesting:

Departing LA Galaxy star David Beckham feels he can play into his 40s.
Beckham, who had a glittering career with Manchester United andReal Madrid, insists that buying his own MLS franchise will not stop him playing on as long as possible.
He said: “ I believe that I can play beyond the age of 40. I think sports science, as well as the way I have always looked after myself, gives me the chance to do that.
“I believe I won’t be the only one doing that either – look at Ryan Giggswho has turned 39 and is still playing for Manchester United in the Premier League.
“I honestly believe that in future you will see generations of players carrying on at the top level beyond the age of 40 because sports science, sports medicine, will give them that opportunity.
“All I know is that whatever plans I may have I do not want to retire yet
“I want to go on playing for as long as possible and I think that can still be for several years yet.”

It will be tough but only very few players can still play at a top level past the age of 40. I remember Billy Costacurta & Palo Maldini did it both with Milan but they were defenders. Not sure if he can do it on a top club or top league, for that matter.

Anyone else catch what happened after Beckham fouled Corey Ashe? They stood up and Beckham patted Ashe on the head. Then Ashe patted Beckhma on the head, slightly messing up his hair. So Beckham adjusted his hair before resuming play.
