Any chance that the field dimensions will be increased this season? I believe the pitch was wider for the USMNT v Canada friendly. Considering some of the players we have that can get out wide and have that bit of pace (Boniek, Barnes, Cummings, and now Driver) I'm just curious.
It was wider for the USA-CAN game but I think there is zero chance Dom widens the field for Dynamo games. He likes it that way for defense. Getting extra offense is less of a concern. We scored 31 goals in 17 games at home. Only a couple of MLS teams had more. We allowed 12 which is more of a concern.
Make it tighter and move the stands 10 feet closer. I want the opponents to feel as if I'm breathing down their back
The answer to that will likely be "nothing". Not sure why if a solution exists they wouldn't have already gotten that conclusion, it's not like this wasn't identified as a problem until Christmas. IIRC, they used some sort of computer modeling in the design, would be easy to run some scenarios on that. This is a 30-60-90 day sort of analysis. It's annoying. They won't do anything if TV doesn't like it (I'm sure they like the brightness coming from the west stands). And I don't want to hear the "just don't look up or adjust your viewing angle" - my tickets aren't marked RESTRICTED or OBSTRUCTED VIEW. You shouldn't have to wear a hat or visor to a night sporting event due to artificial light. It was a flawed design or overlooked item. And to think that they actually turned the lights down from the pre-opening Dynamo Academy game, I could not imagine a season under those lights (neither could the folks in some sections who wear sunglasses at night)
Call me old school, but I dig having ticket stubs. They're great to look back at memories of various games. My Dad had Rockets season tix from before I was born until the move to Toyota Center. I only have one stub kicking around from the 2001-02 season. It has Glen Rice on it in the white pinstripes, taking a jump shot; it's from a late season Laker game. I remember everything about that night. Meaningless, double-digit loss; Rox kept it close, but LA pulled ahead late. I remember who was there, the car ride (we stopped at my Aunt's house for some reason), the snack bar trips. Everything. This guy knows what's up. If he says it's a big name opponent, it will be. And FWIW, the lights were still pretty bad at the USMNT open practice. I'll try to upload undoctored photos so y'all get an idea. Don't know how they were at the game, because I was in the supporters section.
Probably a liga Mx team like pachuca or Monterrey OR an English team that tours like Man U or city OR Real Madrid?
I got that e-mail. Except my tickets are in the SS. But it says "we'd like to inform you of a few updates as an East Center Circle seat holder." So I'm just going to pretend I have access anyway.
That could be a clusterf**k of massive proportions. That club area is not very large, its more like a foyer or lobby.
They usuall have the food in that outside patio but it is a small room. I'll only go in there for the hard liquor if they got it
Was it just me or did prices already jump at BBVA. The beer and many menu items seem to have gone up a dollar. Domestic $9 premium $10. Most of the menu items $10. The beer price puts it higher than the Texans game.... Hope they realize the economics of such moves. They have now priced this guy at least out of buying beer in the stadium
Did any of this happen or did anyone see anything new last night - I didn't see anything but the lines were so long most of the game I just passed on it: http://bbvacompassstadium.com/new-menu-items-2013 Yeah, I noticed a few things seemed to be a $1 more. I really don't know how much that is the Dynamo/BBVA Stadium (Oh! That's right, the Dynamo have no influence!) or Levy Restaurants. Beer is absurd everywhere, but $8 or $9 for a can of Heineken is gouging. Lines seemed long enough, maybe the pricing is inelastic on beer. From what I have sampled, the club pricing for a meal is better than the concession stands.
Yeah, it’s pretty disappointing. I go to sporting events fully aware of the high prices and usually don’t mind dropping a good amount of cash. Been doing it for years and lots of different venues; this was the first time I was like wow. Maybe it’s just that $10 price point that really caught my eye. That’s a ‘good deal’ considering bud light is only 1 dollar less $9. These numbers are a little old but they would put BBVA up there with the most expensive in the NFL. http://www.statista.com/statistics/240015/price-of-a-beer-in-the-national-football-league-by-team/ I am all about getting the word out. I think there is no reason BBVA should have the most expensive beer in Houston. The Texans tried to raise their beer prices but got a backlash a few years ago. Now they have some of the cheaper beer.
The previous guy was much better last year than he was at Robertson. Personally, I think the PA announcer's job is to relay information, not hype up the stadium, so I'm OK with the new guy. I'm also glad that they are actually announcing the lineups while the players are on the field, though I would prefer if it was before the anthem. It's progress though.

I think DOM made this happen Its obvious he likes CentralAmerica nowbesides Jamaica and wants a closer look.
I think it is very likely that there will be a pre-sale for STHs but no guarantees. The Gold Cup is now a Traffic Sports USA property instead of SUM.
BTW, all the Gold Cup games this year will be on FOX media channels. It's not clear to me exactly which channels that means. This article does say three games will be on "FOX Sports" which I guess means the main FOX broadcast channel since it says "network coverage". People do toss that word "network" around these days for all kinds of things so I'm still not 100% convinced but it seems likely. http://www.socceramerica.com/article/50739/fox-sports-to-broadcast-gold-cup-for-first-time.html
