Remeber when Allianz wanted to put their brand on a stadium in NY (I forget which one)? There was a huge outcry from certain segments of that community because of something that occurred 50+ years ago. SMH. Yes there are some "deppen" still out there

Not surprising given the number of Jews that live in NYC.

It's stupid. That is like every Serb or Croat being called Chetniks or Ustashe. It's dumb. Americans do not even understand World War 2. They only look at it from the "Amurrrikka efff yeah" We stormed Normandy. The Pseudo-Patriotism is annoying. The country does not have one history rather many histories.

Folks who know half of my family is Bavarian - all of whom moved over here in the late 1800s BTW - referred to me as Nazi, complete with Hitler jokes and all. I mean... Is there a place for that?

Interesting that the anti-German/Bayern sentiment always disappears around late Sept/early Oct. Your avatar may have something to do with it!

There is some, but it's minuscule. Anti-Mexican and anti-French sentiment absolutely dwarfs any anti-German sentiment.

The anti-German sentiment comes from the video games where the Germans are consistently the bad guys IMO. When I was a kid it was always "Kill the Germans! Kill the Germans!" whenever video games were played. I guess that's why I only stuck to playing sports games and don't like those shooter games.

<crickets> that's the sound of news regarding Bayern's US "tour"...so, below is directly from Bayern's web site from a piece dated 12.12.13...

The prestigious match rounds off Bayern’s one-week summer tour of the States. Detailed information about the itinerary and further friendly matches will be announced in the next few weeks.

The "prestigious match" to which the sentence refers is the MLS All Star Game, but they say "next few weeks". Well, it's been three months since the date of the all star game announcement. I wonder if they're running into problems scheduling an opponent for the rumored NY game....

    news from munich.
momentarily there will only be one more game (expect the portland game) and that will be in NYC.
but I got nothing about the exact date and the opponent.
the team will leave munich on the 29th or 30th.

So they're flying all the way to the northwestern US from Germany and only playing two games? Wow...not typical German efficiency :D:D:D

Bayern are likely having difficulties finding a willing sacrificial lamb.

looking into the Bayern USA tour 2014...

This source (link below) claims that Bayern are working on a blockbuster game between them and Man City in NYC in early August. We knew of the time span and location, just not the opponent... which.... makes completely perfect sense given Man City's investment in a NYC based team and Bayern new USA office in NYC.

So... doing some date checking to see when this game my fall, and my prediction is it will be played on either August 8th (Fri), 9th (Sat), or 10th (Sun). The logic being that Man City play Aug-2 (Sat) in International Champions Cup and could be in the final on Aug-4 (Mon). Bayern play on Aug-6 against the MLS all-stars (Wed). Only wrinkle would be the length of days off for Man City should they not be in the Final until the predicted Bayern date.

    http://www.soccerticketsonline.com/list-of-international-soccer-friendlies-this-summer/

August 2: Olympiacos v. Manchester City – Minneapolis, Minnesota
August 2: AC Milan v. Liverpool FC – Charlotte, North Carolina

August 4: International Champions Cup Final – Miami FL
August 6: MLS All-Stars v Bayern Munich (in Portland)

Great detective work Eiss! If this match happens we need to organize something for all of the BS fans who can make it to NYC. I am only about 3 hours from NYC or so and have family there so I will certainly be in attendance. FR and SirManchester live in NY and Ctis isn't far so we could get some in person trolling from him.
