no argument on what you said at all and i believe this is a great talented team .. I think we just need couple changes and this team will prevail. Its just matter of time but apparently lots of fans have no patients and wants to see results since they got used to be on top all the time.
As i said before, i think a great CB and a Striker is absolutely needed and if we can get a class CAM (or if muller/Kross step it up in the next two years) then this team WILL be a class and win trophies.
I like Robben and Ribery, but this team can and will survive without them.

I'm resisting the urges to troll, but tough luck. After a week it'll pass. Glad we got rid of Robben.

Hello, all. A few months ago, I decided to retire from forums, but I just had to come back on after this match to see how everybody else was doing.
People say Germany is a great footballing nation, and that Bayern is a great European club, but it sure doesn't feel great to be a supporter of those two sides these days. I'm quite sure that Germany has lost the most World Cup finals, and that with this defeat, Bayern has lost the most EC/CL finals...
I'm not here to offer a solution, or say we'll be back. I'm only here to say that my heart goes out to this Bayern team and everybody associated with it - from top to bottom - including Robben. They all tried their best, but they all collectively failed. While some may come away with more credit than others, no one person is to blame for the defeat. The guy I feel worst for though, is undoubtedly, Uli Hoeness...

    http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/the-ballacks/hoeness-wants-chelsea-pay-181642258.html

His face during extra time was a harbinger of what was to come. The great man, who has given his life to this football club deserves better...

I read a post by somebody on the game thread, stating that he'd never introduce his kids to football. Wiser words will not be spoken. Some might say that there are plenty of clubs that would be willing to swap places with Bayern, even right now. Lahm/Schweinsteiger said something akin to that during the interviews last night, too. But that's because, during the press conference, they weren't thinking about suffering the ultimate heart-ache yet again. I'd honestly much rather be a fan of a club that doesn't stand much of a chance of silverware, than be so emotionally linked to teams that stumble at the final hurdle time and time, again. The only people I wouldn't want to swap places with right now, are the players and management at the club, themselves.

Just kind of a circlejerk now, but this is why he can't be captain. Schweinsteiger is a fan, just like us. He feels too deeply. Any of us would have been kneeling and looking at Neuer during that penalty too. In fairness, I blindfolded myself with my scarf and turned away from the TV when Schweini stepped up to beat Madrid. But that's not what makes a great captain. Lahm makes a great captain. The only players on this team who are made from the same stuff are Neuer and maybe Tymo, but Neuer can get too emotional at times as well.

All this talk about how Gomez sucked but at least he made the PK. I've not heard anybody talk bad about Kroos but if he was very poor and apparently chickened out of the PK. Further, I thought Tymo & Contento were very good today. I'm trying to remember the last time Robben had a good game. He's really faded this season. How many times did he cut in and shoot a howler or turn the ball over? Why not go to the endline and pass it back? Also, VanBuy would've been effective on those 20 CKs. He looked pretty solid out there.

Neuer s/b captain. Schweini has been out of it all season, sometimes I think he'd rather play basketball than fussball. Lahm was good today, but he's not captain material and I said this last year. Where are the Kahn's, the Matthaeus' and the Effenbergs? Our players may have their talent but certainly not their drive.

Chelsea were even lucky in getting Terry suspended for this match, good chances are he would have screwed it up for them. I have nothing against the other players in Chelsea, even quite like some of them, but he's an idiot.

EDIT: No offence intended to Chelsea fans... I just don't think he's very good really. I remember I felt very sorry for him when he missed that penalty in the final against Manchester, but knowing more about him I don't think I like him at all.

not much of a troll from a team who we trolled before they even get to the final and spent 3 trillions on players.

No. ******** patience. I'm not giving up on this team next year or the year after that, but patience is worth shit. How many CL titles did the Breitnigge teams win? Yeah. Oh, just give it a year, they probably said!

Gomez blame and focusing on missed chances neglects greater problem - which was evident since first match of season; lack of tactical variety.

I'm certain Bayern will continue to be among Europe's elite. They just have to acknowledge the problem lies with their overall ideology, nothing else.

I don't think anyone is saying much against Gomez' attitude, but about his football skills... just not good enough.

Noooooooo. Chances were created, even before the Robben miss. Shit happens in football, and now we're the ones left with the shit. The team played well enough in every facet except for not finishing good enough for a U-10 team.

Excellent point about Schweini, yep, that is what any of us would have been doing as well. I think you hit the nail in the head there.

I think for one day, we're allowed to be a little pissed off. As the summer wears on, we will settle down, but for today we have a right to take out some anger.

The "Kahn's, the Matthaeus' and the Effenbergs" lost the CL final 1999 - in injury time.

I don't think that is just bad luck though. That doesn't happen to Germany, for example (who has Klose and players with more of a team mentality).

And I'd be there to talk you off the ledge if you really thought that. But "there's always next year" is the worst kind of tripe there is. We have made the final more often that Barca the last 3 years. Even if we're the best team (which we aren't), getting to the final is NOT promised. Many of those Chelsea players individually deserved to lift the European Cup for their great careers, but they made the final twice... lost one, and had the biggest flukiest run to win the other. There isn't always next year. One of the best teams in european history, Brietnigge, did not win the cup. When a spouse dies you don't say "well, it's okay, you can remarry in a few months", you mourn the tragic loss.

I think Gomez is a great guy and I definitely love to have him as a player at Bayern. But I'm going to bust a nut the next time a fanboy starts berating people for criticizing the guy. We've seen time and time again that he is a player who has arguably THE best positioning sense of any striker in the world, but I am almost certain an amateur basketball player could finish better than him. He needs to improve that godawful touch and no matter what we need another top class striker to challenge his spot throughout the season.

Clearly dominating and getting many wasted chances?, nope, I don't think so.
