Exactly Milan didn't give up many chances until it was 3-1 and even then they only gave up 1 or 2 really good chances. I was really surprised to see the shots 19(8)-3(1) for Barca mid way through the 2nd half. I couldn't remember them ahving that many shots on goal.
Are you seriously saying that the fouls and PKs were justified? At this level of competition, you simply cannot overcome such bias against you. 0-0 at home is actually decent, considering the away goal situation. Milan were in a position to go through at 1-1, and they get absolutely shafted with one of the most ridiculous jokes I've seen in a long time. Puyol sets a pick on Nesta, Biscuits the diver grabs Nesta's shirt, Nesta grabs Biscuits the divers shirt and somehow this is a penalty on Nesta. And to make matters worse, this was Barca's 2nd PK of the game, lol.
The funny thing about Nesta is that Milan would probably want to keep him but he's the type of guy who'd be like: "******** it I've had enough!" lol As for Ambro I hope he stays. MVB is not certain to extend and Gattuso seems to be on the brink of retirement with his 'eye' thing leaving very few options. (Oh yeah I forgot about Flamini lol!)
i thought Barcelona was head and shoulders better than Milan, but over 4 games that was proven to be false. Milan can go toe to toe with Barcelona and that, for me, speaks of Barcelona being over rated. I didn't consider Milan a top 5 team in the world prior to the start of the CL, but I did consider Barcelona the best. The gap between them is very small IMO, and I agree that Milan needs better players, but what does that say about Barcelona? Simple, for me, they're not as good as everyone thinks. Bayern is going to beat them in the final.
Are you seriously saying that because you believe it was a bad call that it can only be a UEFA conspiracy to have Barca advance? Really? Not the 8 shots on goal v. 1? Not the failure to score at home? None of that has any bearing on the result? I have stopped making excuses for Arsenal a long time ago. As for shirt grabs and picks in the penalty area, I do acknowledge they are not called that often (but should be) but I think once you get a fistful full of shirt you are always taking a chance. When you are the second guy to grab a fistful of shirt you are taking a bigger chance.

It amazes me how naive people still are these days when it comes to understanding cheating, bias and influence in sports. Oh, I'm talking about you, not the person you were quoting by the way.
And can you explain how this answers the non-call on Ibrahimovic, arguably worse than the call on Nesta 5 minutes later?
One bad call would not be evidence. An overwhelming pattern of bad calls over a long period of time, and what we know to be the case about corruption at the highest levels of football officialdom... Considering that overall, England is second only to Italy in being hated and shafted by FIFA and UEFA, and that within the PL (also manifestly corrupt) Arsenal is the most victimized club, I find it surprising that an Arsenal fan is surprised that Barca is widely regarded as the most cheating club of the CL era.
Even the first PK is pretty meh. And I can't believe the ref actually gave a yellow by what was a chance take-down... was it really necessary?
i just watched the game when i got off work. here are my thoughts: 1. we didn't play well enough to win the game regardless of the officiating. 2. huge mistake from mexes puts us down early. that's the type of thing you just can't do when you're playing a great team like barca. 3. the officiating was clearly pro-barca. there's no point in even debating it. 4. sergio busquets needs his legs broken. i liked at the half when wynalda revoked his man card. busquets is the epitome of what is wrong with the game today. the diving, the whining, and overall playing like a bitch are disgusting. 5. pato. why did max even bring him on? i don't know what's going on with him, but i cannot believe that he should have been on the field. i don't get it. galliani just said they met with the docs, and everything is fine. now he's hurt again? big headscratcher. 6. let's keep this in perspective. we advanced to the final 8 of the most intense tournament in the world. with a more favorable draw, we could have easily been into the semis or the final. considering the injuries, i don't think we can complain too much. 7. time to move forward and win the scudetto.
I know right? The Barca players were surrounding the ref after he had called for a PK and didn't seem satisfied by the yellow. I think they (Puyol, Busquetsdiver) were asking for tarjeta roja
The thing that boggles my mind is how much they complain. Sure the are the most technical team in the world, and probably the best( Tho i think Bayern OR Real will beat them in finals) they whine and complain so much. For example, not only do they go down soft and dive BUT than they get up and complain! They got a PK and the first thing they do is run over to ref. What more do you need. It amazes me that people look up to these guys. O and btw, without Messi, this team doesnt make it to quarter finals of CL and probably will be a 4/5 place in La Liga, but thats besides the point...
I love watching the replay of the 2nd penalty and seeing Puyol just hammer Nesta as he tries to get around him. Even in basketball that would have been called a moving screen.
I just want to address this one point because at 1-1 Milan were playing well enough, but a huge blow is the sort of consistent one way calls against a team has an effect on morale over time it can be a huge deciding factor. It's not like Barcelona aren't talented enough to begin to play without the assistance after-all. Agreed with the rest of the points.
Aside from the fact that Mourinho is using that to try and begin swaying refs in his favor should Real magically advanced beyond Bayern, which I don't believe they will, he is right!
Unfortunately for him, out of all those teams mentioned Real Madrid was the only one who was not robbed.
yes, it was 1-1 at that point. yes, 1-1 would have taken us through. however, i had no feeling whatsoever that we were going to keep them from scoring again. we were defending very poorly and had very little composure when we had that ball. hell, once we would get the ball, we'd give it right back to them. on mou's comments: what the hell is he thinking? i wouldn't be surprised to see uefa ban him for a few games for saying stuff like that.
If the team morale is dented so easily, then the players mentality must be weak. Look at how Inter defended at Nou Camp after going a men down(to a harsh decision) a few seasons ago. Playing with 11 men against Barca is already hard enough, let alone 10 men. We should be rallying instead of giving up because of the referee decisions.
Game 1 - Both Ibra and Robino wasted a chance to go up 1-0 @ home - 1-0 up would have been a totally different game - Milan defended well - Barca should have had a P.K. Game 2 - Milan defensively were not as sharp as game 1 - 1st P.K. -> Was a P.K. - 2nd P.K -> Ref should have called off the play before ball was played, however Nesta was not smart to hold and keep pulling Biscuits shirt in the box (Nesta should have surely known Biscuits antics) - Shirt pulling is technically a foul and refs in Europe do give calls more then do in leagues for it - After going 2-1 down Milan lacked ideas and looked tired - Even if 2nd P.K was not given, imo Barca would have likely gone through - Silva was sorely missed, so was creativity of Cassano or speed of fit/inform Pato - Milan lab in 2012 is a Medical Fantasy - Ibra is very good player, but with him you don't win CL (That's why Ibra's best new buddy Mourhino shipped Ibra to Barca for Eto and won CL with Inter) Summary: This year's Barca has problems up front and in the back, especially playing outside Camp Nou, so Milan missed a great chance to score at least 1 goal @ home and possibly take a lead to Camp Nou. The rest is all Sour Grapes !!! .
Way to drink the UEFAlona Kool-aid. You call yourself a Milanista? Disgrace. See, this kind of "logic" is how UEFA and its media whores keep the charade going. 1. Barca is "obviously" the superior team, ergo 2. So refs favoring Barca is irrelevant to the outcome; Barca would win anyway, ergo 3. Refs favor Barca with impunity, ergo 4. Barca repeatedly wins without needing to test whether they are in fact superior to others, ergo 4. Barca always wins, ergo (1.) Repeat ad infinitum.
- You been ranting here against UEFA, FIFA, Barca etc and you have right to, but it's sad now you are calling I, "You call yourself a Milanista? Disgrace. " because I have different opinions then you. - Please learn to respect other poster/s opinions on Bigsoccer and in life. You can agree to disagree with mine or anyone's opinion here w/o name calling, etc. Again I stand by my opinion of the 2 Quarter-Finals AC Milan - Barca games I saw... regardless what you think of me ... Also, do youself a favor and re-read the Terms of Bigsoccer rules !!! Have a nice day .
