WTF! You'd think MLS would at least entertain a discussion.

Might be a good signing for LA2 in 2015.

Doubt he'd sign for the 'castilla' team of LAG.

...? I meant as in ex-Chivas, depends on the new management obviously. Depends on whether Besiktas exercise the contract option and how badly JJ wants to live in his LA crib.

If after he let it be known that he would be interested in coming to MLS and got zero interest why do you think it would suddenly change? If he helps the Black Eagles get to the UCL and plays well in the WC then his option will be exercised.

He and especially his family are treated like celebrities in Istanbul, his post-tax football income is only slightly less than at Schalke and his potential for non football income is very very good in Turkey. I know JJ considers himself an American and wants to settle with his family in America but with the MLS snub it should become clear to him that America/MLS does not feel the same way.

Oh, I know MLS is highly improbable and UCL w/ Besiktas is the ideal scenario anyway...and has a good chance of happening given the UEFA sanctions on Fener. I'm just putting myself in the fantasy shoes of the future LA2 GM/owner looking to make a marquee DP signing for 2015, and thinking I'd give JJ's agent a call. Just wishful thinking from Stateside here.

I have to say, I didn't anticipate that signing Jermaine would get the full red carpet treatment in Istanbul with all the big names over at Gala...but after all he's a major foreign signing for one of the Big 3. Of course, he and his family have the intangible star power too.

Another good 60 minute shift by JJ
    [IMG]

The Black Eagles had a loud penalty shout ignored just nine minutes in, with the claim being that a defender handled Jones' dangerous cross from the right flank. Thanks to an 89th-minute Ersan Gülüm strike, third-place Besiktas stayed within two points of rivals Galatasaray for Turkey's lone Champions League group-phase pass.

Black Eagles still in the hunt for a UCL slot.

Highlights of the match here including the vintage JJ midfield pounce and takeaway at the beginning of the clip and the cross into the box with the handball.

Wait so Jones is now a big star at his club? Can anyone explain why? He was one of the bigger names at Schalke right? But not to the extent that people rushed to get his jerseys or photogs stalking him/his family right?

Besiktas plays regulation zone Rizespor Saturday. The black Eagles currently sit 3 points behind Gala for the CL qualifications slot so a win will put them in a points tie.

Would be a good time for JJ to score a goal!

In the big Darby battle between 1st and 2nd in the Turkish league it looks like JJ is starting..... A right back. Can anyone confirm this? That would throw a really big wrinkle into the rb conversation if he excels there.

Not saying they should change things up. But if he does we'll he could be used there in a pinch and maybe would allow us to bring an extra attacker instead of another be like Evans.

Apparently Jones should have gotten his second yellow in the Besiktas vs Fener game, at least that's what a turkish ref said.

direct translation: Should the Besiktas player Jones have gotten his second yellow?
Bünyamin Gezer (turkish ref): Jones should have gotten his second yellow for what he did to Emre and what he did to Mehmet Topal is not part of sportsmanship.

According to another Turkish ref, he shouldn't have gotten a second yellow.

One of the hardest-fought, intense, and most physical Derby's I have ever seen. Players on both sides were flying to the ball with zero regard for life or limb. Besiktas had 9 YCs including 2YC-RC and was down to 9 at the end. Fenerbache had only 3 but could have easily had twice that number. At the end There was smiles and handshakes all around!

In that environment I thought JJ was one of the most restrained players on the pitch. His DM mate Kavlak the Austrian MNTer was a terror!

    MLSSoccer.com's take:

"In Turkey, Jermaine Jones went the distance as Beşiktaş battled local visitors Fenerbahçe to a 1-1 Süper Lig draw. The midfield general, who saw yellow early in the contest, was among the culpable on the away side's 24th minute opener. Jones could have notched the winning assist with six minutes left, but his clever entry pass ended with a teammate's stray finish."
