nice to see that he's integrated/comfortable enough with the national team to sound out the advice of holden.

on that sidebar, i think Magath is right. Players should be prevented transfer and be suspended games for being princesses about their contracts, its become so rediculous some transfer sagas over the past decade, and itd be no less than some of these players deserve. Id hope something like it is acted on myself. Ba to west ham/stoke is the most recent one that makes me think "are you kidding? shut up and get on with it"

I don't think the players should be prevented from asking for a transfer but there should be some form of a financial penalty stipulated in their deals, aside of the forfeiture of the player's share of the transfer itself.

    Good move for Jermaine.

It's been a good week or so for Yanks Abroad.

Gooch out of purgatory at Milan to Twente. Jones out of Hell at Shcalke to Blackburn. Cooper back to MLS.

Findley and Buddle go overseas. Boss seems close to a team in Sweden, maybe even Freddy as well.

On a positive note, I suppose Magath can consider himself lucky that he's not living back in gladiator times...

Well, who knows what it meant in Rome.

But we know what it meant at Schalke.

Re: Off the Reservation: Jones goes to Blackburn [R]

It's actually pretty funny (of course, not for Schalke fans...). Magath decided to open a Facebook account to "explain" his decisions to the fans. He regularly posts videos where he talks to the fans and tries to act like he'd care - because all the months and weeks before, Schalke's fans accused him of not caring for the interests of the fans and the club.

So, this is obviously the famous most wanted Facebook "dislike" button ;)

One of my favorite quotes from the article:

The whole article really made me like Jones more. I wonder if it'll do something similar for his detractors. Great read Brian, thanks.

I think players that find themselves sidelined with the reserves because they are "no longer in the plans" of clubs should be immediately paid out the remainder of the contract they negotiated with the club in good faith and be declared free agents allowing them to transfer outside the transfer windows.

If we agreed to all that would you also compromise and require such players to play in a tutu?

eports in Germany say Schalke's front office said they will part ways at the end of the season.

    Magath denies it...

And they're paying off his entire contract?

Not that he will stay unemployed for long ...

They will have to...and not just him, but his staff as well. It's like 20 million euros!
