Well, Blackburn certainly have a couple Americans/MLSers over the years (Friedel, Nelsen).

    That's great!
Does anyone know much about Blackburn's midfielders? Would Jones be a probable starter once he establishes himself and knows his teammates?

I was reading some Blackburn forum earlier today, and here's what I can gather:

Although, Sam Allardyce had a youngster by the name of Phil Jones as his primary holding midfielder, he's injured for the rest of the season and most Blackburn fans think he was being played out of position anyway.

Since then, Blackburn's new manager Kean has generally gone with a 3 man central midfield featuring Dunn, Emerton, and Pedersen (I'd imagine that the latter plays more advanced). Emerton's out at the Asian Cup at the moment, so I'd assume that Jones takes his place if Kean sticks with a 3 man central midfield. If not, he's probably competing with Dunn for playing time.

Great news, he lands on another team at a similar level, with a good chance for playing time and they are even easier to watch.

    Awesome.

Dunn is a #10 (or #8 at worst) and Peterson can play wide left or advanced.

Jones will probably play behind them in his typical holding role with another holding mid.

Big Sam often went with one striker. Kean prefers to play two and, with Santa Cruz on board now, should stick with the formation.

If Diouf isn't suspended/reprimanded for his antics in the Cup match, they can play 3+1 in midfield.

Or they can go to the Empty Bucket.

Soccernet's average position chart has Dunn playing as the deepest central midfielder in just about every match Kean has coached so far, which is why I assumed Jones would be competition for him.

It's a pity this didn't come in time for him to play versus Chelsea today.

From the BBC Saturday Football Matchtracker:

1749: Meanwhile, Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean confirmed they are close to signing Schalke's United States international midfielder Jermaine Jones. "Hopefully we can push that through," Kean told BBC Sport.

We could field an entire midfield from players in the PL who would getting consistent minutes. Record?

Even though this is a loan, I don't think JJ will ever put on a Schalke shirt again.
