So then...are we thinking of this? Would this be the ideal team for us?

    Schwarzer
    Emerton - Williams - Neill - Chippers
    Wilkshire - Bresc
    Vidosic - Cahill - Kewell
    McDonald

I like the look of that, i wont argue against williams but sooner or later, he has to be given a shot though doesnt he? if not him, then what about milligan or spiranovic if he starts playing more? we keep going over and over it again but it seems the only one who isnt listening is pim who keeps persisting with moore.

i dont think vidosic has shown he has the true individual quality to start a game though...he's got an entire year to prove himself though but right now at this moment...not yet

I've been thinking this might be a good formation for us:

    Schwarzer
    Emerton - Williams - Neill - Chippers
    Wilkshire
    Bresc - Cahill - Carle - Kewell
    Vidosic

With Cahill pushing up into a support strikers role and Carle being played more like a playmaker. Carle and Wilkshire could be the creators for our dangerous attacking players in Bresc, Kewell, Vidosic and Cahill. I really think Vidosic needs to be our starting striker, he just looks the most dangerous striker we have. McDonald or Kennedy could be subbed on at Carles expense if we decided to go for another striker. I'd be a bit loath to take Emerton out of right midfield but i'm starting to think Williams is the best option at CB for us considering the poor form of Moore; Spira not getting gametime; Milligan playing in the CSL; and Williams simply being a better player than Kisnorbo IMO. Wilkshire is more value to us in DM where he can be more involved in the game and can set-up play.

Those are two fair opinions. Let's see what changes, however.

Sadly, not much will change. Unless Kennedy, Moore and Culina are injured, they will be starting most, if not all matches and Pim will be Pim.

An interesting point about the Italians. Cahill is as good as any "match breaker" they can come up with, but they're able to dictate a match better. They control a situation better where as we're all over the shop trying to mix about 15 different gameplans.

Vidosic's form has given the Socceroos another good option in attack with the way he runs the ball and can be physically strong for his age.

I still think Kennedy is being treated a bit harshly. Fact is he has never had great feet skills but has done enough to trouble defences and score goals more regularly than anyone else in the squad (bar Cahill) over the past 3 years. He's won us a few games and i'm not sure the guy needs to be crucified for a poor week this week.

Surely he has earnt enough brownie points to be forgiven. Surely he's a better option than the mecurial MacDonald.

I'd really like to see Petkovic and/or Federici get some serious Socceroo game time in 2010 friendly games, so that if anything happened to the Schwartz - for whatever reason - our goalkeeper is as familiar as possible with how our defenders play. Seems that Schwartzer wants to play at every possible opportunity - which is fine - but is it making us too 1-dimensional ?
