Sort of. Their average coefficient for this year is the highest, because although they only have 3 places their teams have all performed exceptionally well this season (Rapid and Steaua are both in the QFs of the UEFA Cup). None of them really underperformed badly to drag them down.

Still, the country ranking is based on the last 5 years, so they'll be nowhere near #1, although it will give them a big boost (probably into the top 10). If they don't back it up with continuing good performances they'll slip back down.

I just checked, that 1 goal in the league so far was for Twente....(he came to PSV in October). So he hasn't scored for PSV yet.

    Player Updates

Can anyone tell me what's going on in germany?!?!?

Josh Kennedy, who supposedly moved to Nuremberg, was reported as scoring for Dynamo Dresden over the weekend?!?

All we've heard from Beauchamp is that he sent a text to Mckinna saying that he thought he played well and the coach said he played well

    No News for Heffernan

Is Carney's deal for Aichman (?) going to allow him to play this season?

What happened in Michael Thwaite's case, the site that was giving me all the news seems to have shut down

And does anyone know a good english site for news on the romanian league (to follow McKain and Thwaite) and Norwegian league (to follow Elrich), and for that matter a good english site for the bundesliga and 2bundesliga

I use www.kicker.de for all Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga info - it's probably the best site out there for German football, but you need to be able to read German.

    Re: Cahill to Man U?

Deals like these are like a rose, sounds great moving to a big club with CL and title aspirations, but you can also be stung by the quality of the squad, and find out that your not really what they were after but just getting used as a back-up, with hardly any playing time

    Re: Cahill to Man U?

I think he'd probably fall into the latter catagory there. Man U have way too much quality in the midfield for Cahill to slot into the starting lineup.

If Everton can get their act together I'd be happy for him to stay there. I don't mind if he's not playing for a title-contender as long as he's getting regular matchtime - but it would be nice for him to be playing for a team that's regularly in Europe.

    Re: Cahill to Man U?

In the article it also states that Man U are targeting Steve Reid and Nolan. Even if i wasnt biased i would rate Cahill above both.
Your right though, it may be hard for him to slot into the midfield. But really... his competition... Scholes is getting old... Smith injured... Honestly they dont have that many options in the center of midfield now that Keanes gone.

Cahill is a better option than Fletcher, Park, O'Shea etc. for the CM slot.

    Re: Cahill to Man U?

He's a different style of CM... the way he plays at Everton would just be a pain in the neck for the United strikers, he's more about goalscoring and less about service.

The abilty to scores goals from midfeilder is a huge bonus - not a negitive.

I don't think the United strikers would see it as a pain in the next if a midfeilder helped out the attack.

    Re: Cahill to Man U?

ManYoo don't have any problems scoring, their attack is already phenomenal. Cahill would have the same problems Smith does working with Ronaldo - too many cooks spoil the broth. Scholes already fulfils the more forward centre midfield role admirably.

What they desperately need is a player with defensive and distribution skills who can control tempo and provide service from the middle of the park - unfortunately that's not Cahill's forte.

    Re: Cahill to Man U?

None of these players play that position for Manchester anyway! Apart from Oshea like once in a blue moon.
Personally i think it would be a good move, just because its Man U. But i want to see Timmy play week in week out.

    Re: Cahill to Man U?

Fletcher is a center mid/midfeidler right. Is is shyte outwide, at least looks decent in the CM postion.

Park plays anywhere in the midfeild.

O'Shea these days plays CM alot.

    Re: Cahill to Man U?

Fletcher can play in the middle, but they hardly use him.

Park is considered a wide player...

Oshea can play there but is way better at left back or central defense.

    Socceroos Clash in EPL (Wigan/Blackburn)

    http://www.theage.com.au/news/socce...rks-controversy/2006/04/04/1143916526154.html

    How ironic, I'm reading this story and you have to do a double take, the collision involved Socceroos on opposite teams; I'm sure there will be no hard feelings come the world cup; but it's kicked up quite a ruckus; with Wigan's manager Jewell possibly facing some fines over comments made;

For all of you, I'm not Australian but I try to follow the Rovers.

Phew. Glad neither of them is injured.

Just a minor correction - Filan has never played for the national team. Although his form this season has been great, it's quite possible he won't even be going to the World Cup. If he does it will be at the expense of current third choice goalkeeper Ante Covic (Hammarby, Sweden) who had a bit of a shocker last time he played for the Socceroos. Schwarzer (Boro) and Kalac (Milan) have the first and second spots wrapped up between them.

C'mon Guus, give archie a run!

I'm not too sure how the psv owners feel about guus bringing in Archie. They spent a bit to get him there to play about 10mins total for the first team, and just play for Young PSV essentially. It's great for us, but surely with PSV pretty damn certain of clinching the title, Guus might get generous and give him some game time in the top flight before the world cup. At the very least i think he should get a go in PSV's final game of the Eredivisie, so Guus can rest his regular starters for the cup final against Ajax

Re: C'mon Guus, give archie a run!

yeah i totally agree. he's had no chance to prove himself, 2 stars for about 5 minutes a piece is nothing. even when they were 4-0 down against lyon he didn't send him on! what harm could it do?

at least he's training with a world class side, but it'd be nice to see his talent recognised.

He scored for young psv in their latest game, but he's been dropped from the first squad for the last 3 games
