We're still looking good for the seedings atm.

We need now on Wednesday the following to occur:

Jordan to draw or lose away to China
Uzbekistan to draw or lose away to Japan
Saudi Arabia to draw or lose away to Australia

That way we leapfrog Uzbekistan and become the 5th seeded qualifier from the 3rd round. If the upset happens and South Korea get knocked out by Kuwait, then we'd be 4th seeds

Semifinal Qatar cup: Lekhwia 2-3 Al Wakra

Three iraqi scorers: mohammed dirjal, younis and nashat. Younis missed a penalty. The Iraqi players of al wakra can now focus on the Singapore match.

So, tomorrow is the final matchday of the WCQ round 3. We play at 14.45 (GMT + 1). The NT's performance is always unpredictable but let's hope they give themselves and us a good feeling before we enter the final stage.

i think he did pretty well with the lineups today, he did infuse some youth into the squad especially with the substitutions without losing any quality in play.

mind you i only saw the last 15 mins :(, stupid education. so if anyone has highlights afterwards that'd be awesome

Don't be fooled by the result. We played against a very weak team today but somehow they made our defense look like a bunch of outplayed kids.

Good to finish on a win. But not really a barometer of how well we're doing at all considering the opposition.

We are now ranked 6th out of the 10 qualifiers after today's results (as they will look for the March 7th update):

    1-Australia
    2-South Korea
    3-Japan
    4-Iran
    5-Uzbekistan
    6-Iraq
    7-Jordan
    8-Qatar
    9-Oman
    10-Lebanon

My ideal group (if they use the same pots as last time):

    Australia
    Iran
    Iraq
    Oman
    Lebanon

    Worst case scenario imo:

    Japan
    South Korea
    Iraq
    Jordan
    Qatar

I hope we get some friendlies lined up between now and then...decent ones.

Sounds promising. Let's hope they can give him what he needs.

Man, Zico leading us into the samba party would be epic

I am just hoping that the players do their job at their clubs: play regularly and stay in shape. Zico has to arrange some good friendlies and open his eyes for players in the iraqi league and the olympic team. I know the iraqi fans can be a bit harsh but seeing the joy of the iraqi people after each winning game really sketches the current situation in iraq; football is the only thing that brings us joy.

Sounds pretty good if this goes through!

Did well against them at the Confed cup last time. Would be great preparation :D

Very hard group, but Iraq has great capability to clinch a direct ticket if they keep up their current form. Japan is not unbeatable as Uzbekistan and North Korea showed previous round. And Iraq has a good record against Australia. Always manages to make life difficult for the Australians.

With only one loss this campaign, and the rest wins I'd say things are looking very good. And that one loss obviously came in the beginning of the 3rd round when Zico just had settled in and did not have enough time to implement his ideas.

    Anyways good luck guys :)

Cheers bro. Hopefully we can do it.

When I watched the draw this morning I was quite happy with it. Jordan are not an unknown quantity to us and we came back and beat them in Amman. No reason why we shouldn't be taking 6 points from them.
Oman have been better. We play well against Australia. The only team I was hoping we didn't draw was Japan, but as TM mentioned, they are beatable.

Maximum points from Oman and Jordan, then at least a draw away to the Aussies and we're in with a shout!

I'd be disappointed with anything less than a play off place finish for our boys.

    In Zico we trust!
