I have the DS 5 Wides and I like them but I miss the feel of full K leather. My foot is wide with a large instep, but not overly so. I can wear regular width shoes in K leather because it will stretch, but I often feel the sole plate is not wide enough. So my question is, how wide is the sole plate on the X-flys in comparison to the DS 5 Wides. The easiest way to do this, in my opinion, is to measure the width of the sole plate at the widest point in the front of the shoe, and at the widest point in the back. Thanks in advance. I really want to get the X-flys but I am concerned the sole plate will be too narrow, and their are no stores near me that stock them. I am in the US, so I get Asics boots for the US market, if this matters. Again, thanks.
The sole plate is definitely narrower. Depending on the width of your foot there is a good chance you will feel your foot go over the sides. I don't remember the exact measurements between the to sole plates but it might be up to 3-4mm. Again I am not 100% on this.
Is the sole plate on the x-flys wider than on the Puma King Top K DI FG. I wore those for a while so its a good guide for me. I would say that the DS Light 5 Wides are more than 4 mm wider that the aforementioned Pumas.

Does anyone know where I can get asics insoles in the uk please!?! struggling to find anywhere. I get often get calf cramps and shin splints aswel as pressure on the heel and big toe areas and heard asics insoles are good for this!? Thanks
The X-Flys KL arrived yesterday. I wear US 9,5 in Puma, Nike, Mizuno and Adidas. But, in Asics, I think that my size could be US 8,5. A full size down. It has a lot of space in the front of the boot, almost 1 cm. I'll buy another one in US 8,5 mainly because the leather quality. It's so soft that I was impressed in the first use. Despite the size problem, I've tried to fix it with double insoles, with no success. I wore it for 60 minutes and my feet sliped all the time. I'm pretty sure that if I have it in a full size down, it will fit me perfectly.
i had to go a half size dwn to get true to size. they truly are a dream to play in. i would think a whole size would be to tight. there is differences from the japan made to the european made. where the heel counter is mine has a plastic film which is about half a inch going around heel to midfoot. there is also this plastic film on the last two eyelets of the boot. i cant see anything else which is different.
